Re: Can Instrumentation Engineering student apply for IES examination?

Dear Friend,

The IES Examination is conducted every year by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has set the eligibility criteria for the IES Exam as below :

a) Only those students are considered eligible who have completed their B.Tech/B.E. from any of the following disciplines :

* Civil Engineering

* Mechanical Engineering

* Electronics & Electrical Engineering

* Electronics & Communication Engineering

b) Candidates in final year of these streams are also eligible to apply.

So , from the above mentioned , that there is no mention of Instrumentation Engineering.

So Being an Instrumentation Engineering student , you cannot apply for the IES Examination.

This is the information i have to the best of my knowledge regarding your query. Hope the information will help you to the extent you want.

Re: Can Instrumentation Engineering student apply for IES examination?

UPSC conducts the IES exam for four categories of services civil ,mechanical, electronics,electrical engineering .So they only recruits candidates having 4 years bachelor degree on those four branches .

So Instrumentation Engineering students can't apply for the exam .

Thank you

Re: Can Instrumentation Engineering student apply for IES examination?

yes you can very well apply for IES exam.
IES(indian engineering services)exam is conducted by UPSC for engineers. it is conducted once in every year.
eligibility of IES exam in terms of academic qualification is a bachelors degree in engineering with any of the following major stream:
Electrical Engineering
Electronics and telecommunications Engineering
civil Engineering
Mechanical Engineering
As your stream of engineering is electronics and instrumentation you are eligible to apply for IES exam.
you can apply for IES after completing your degree or when you are in your final year. as you are in prefinal year now you cannot apply for IES as of now. wait for another 1 year and apply after that.
all the best

As the requirement for IES is graduate degree in engineering or equivalenthence i think you are eligible for the entrance exam.
But Instrumentation branch is not there in IES exam. So, instead you will have to prepare the papers in one of these 4 branches
1.Mechanical
2.Electrical
3.Civil
4.Electronics and telecommunication

Hi,

Its nice to know that you are doing Instrumentation engineering.
But, IES (Indian engineering service) is conducted for four courses:
1. Civil
2. mechanical
3. electrical
4. Electronics and telecommunication

So, i hope you are not eligible. If you are eligible also, you need to choose one of these four courses.

Thanks.

Dear friend,

The eligibility for IES examination is that you must have

a graduation degree from a recognized institute, so you

are surely eligible for appearing in the IES examinations

in next year and later after completion of graduation.

Also, as there is no subject like Instrumentation Engg. in the

IES exam, you have to select one subject out of four subjects

offered for the examination. The subjects offered are:

1) Civil Engineering

2) Electrical Engineering

3) Electronics and Communication Engineering

4)Mechanical engineering.

I would suggest you to either choose electrical or mechanical

engineering as the subject for examination.

For more details you can visit the official website of UPSC(http://www.upsc.gov.in)

which conduct the IES examination.

Thank you....

Re: Can Instrumentation Engineering student apply for IES examination?

You are eligible to apply for Indian Engineering Services examination.
As you are in 3rd year now, you can apply next year or later for the exam.
The application procedure should start in December or January.

There is no special examination for Instrumentation stream students.

You will have to choose any one of the following four streams;

Civil Engineering
Electrical Engineering
Electronics and Communication Engineering
Mechanical engineering.
You can choose anyone stream as per your knowledge and convenience.

You should have a look to IES-2011 notification to clear your doubts about the exam.
The notification is attached with this message.
