Re: Is selection of PSU based on GATE score card?

Dear friend,
PSU stands for public Sector Undertakings.PSU is for filling the posts in various government companies like NTPC,BHEL.They are selecting the candidates bases on the GATE score and Interviews.
Eligibility criterion for PSU::---
-----------------------------------
1.Candidate should be Indian
2.Bachelor degree in engineering with minimum marks of 60% with no backlogs.
SC/ST students have some relaxation that no restriction on marks but they must clear the all subjects
3.Age should be between 21-30.For OBC students more 3 year and for sc/st students more 5 years are permitted.
4.Candidate should have GATE rank

PSU is conducted by individual companies.PSU has two parts written test and Interview.

Re: Is selection of PSU based on GATE score card?

I can understand your confusion. The answer is that earlier Public Sector Underakings used to conduct written test and interview to select the candidate. However lately a large number of Public Sector Undertakings have shifted to the GATE score.

The list include NTPC and even BHEL also asks for GATE score. There are several other companies as well. But still several continue to conduct Written Test. Therefore you need to be sure before applying.

You should read the notification of the company and see whether the selection will be based on the GATE score of written test. In any case I will recommend you to appear for the Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering.

Even in companies where written test is still conduct, GATE score is given importance. Candidate with good GATE score will be given exemption from appearing for the written test.

PSU Eligibility

1. Only Indians are eligible to apply.

2. B.Tech degree from recognized college is required.

3. You should have 60 percent marks in graduation.

4. SC/ST are given some relaxation.

5. Must have cleared pending backlogs.

6. A valid GATE score. Should be less than 2 years old.

7. Age should be at least 21 years to apply.

8. The upper age limit is 30 years.

9. There is 3 years relaxation for OBC.

10. While the relaxation is 5 years for SC/ST.

Re: Is selection of PSU based on GATE score card?

Dear Friend,

Not most of the PSUs including NTPC select on the basis of GATE score card.

You will have to apply for GATE and appear for it.

Also, you need to apply separately to PSUs where you are eligible and are interested to join.

On the basis of GATE score, if you obtain above their cut off then they will call you for interview.

Interview will be mostly technical in nature.

Official website of GATE 2014: http://gate.iitkgp.ac.in/gate2014/

All the best.
Thank you.

Re: Is selection of PSU based on GATE score card?

Selection process for 'Executive Trainee' in NTPC is done on the basis of GATE, GD, and interview. Those who have obtained at least 65% marks in B.Tech can participate in the recruitment process. Candidates short listed on the basis of GATE score are intimated with the date and time of GD. Upon qualifying GD, candidates can appear for interview. Further details on selection process can be collected from NTPC's job notification for Executive Trainee.

Dear Friend,
Yes selection of PSU like NTPC process is based on gate score card. It is confirmed that recruitment for the year 2012 will based on GATE 2012 scores.

The candidates will be shortlisted for GD and interview on the basis of GATE 2012 score. Candidates need to apply for the post of ET-2012 after getting GATE registration number along with admit card.

Good Luck
