Re: Am I eligible to write UGC NET examination after completing B.Tech?

Dear There,

The acronym for UGC is University Grants Commission.

The acronym for NET is National Eligibility Test.

Sorry to say that you are not eligible to write UGC NET examination before completion of you M.Tech.

UGC conducts NET examination every year.

NET examination is conduccted for the posts of JRF and Lectureship.

The eligibility criteria required for NET examination are precribed as below:-

* Completion of post-graduation with 55% marks from any recognized university.

* 50% marks required for SC/ST contendors.

* Age relaxation:- 5 yrs for OBC and SC/ST contendors.

* Nationality:- Indian.

* Age limit:- 21-28 yrs for JRF and no limits for Lectureship.

* Final year contendors are also eligible for this.

NET examination pattern:-

Hope the above mentioned will help you to get the information you were searching for.

Re: Am I eligible to write UGC NET examination after completing B.Tech?

I am afraid but you can not appear for the National Eligibility Test as for this moment. You are not meeting the educational criteria set for the National Eligibility Test by the University Grants Commission.

You should be post graduate to appear for NET entrance exam. While your qualification is B.Tech. You should complete post graduation courses such as M.Tech or the MBA to apply for the National Eligibility Test.

In my opinion M.Tech would be better option in comparison with Master of Business Administration (MBA). To do M.Tech you will have to appear for General Aptitude Test for Engineering (GATE) which is conducted every year.

Upon completing the post graduation you will be able to appear for the National Eligibility Test. June and December of every year are the months when University Grants Commission conducts the NET entrance exam.

Kindly go through the complete eligibility criteria below:

1. First of all you should be Indian citizen.

2. Must complete Post graduation that too from a UGC recognized college.

3. Even in final year of PG, you can appear for the entrance exam.

4. However in case you pass the NET, please submit the degree in 2 years else you will be disqualified.

5. Minimum percentage to obtain in PG is 55 percent to appear for the exam.

6. SC as well ST candidates can appear with minimum of 50 percent.

7. The subject selected for NET should be relevant to your PG course.

8. You can appear for NET as many times as you like.

9. 28 years is the maximum age to appear for NET for JRF.

10. OBC can appear till 31 years of age.

11. SC and ST can appear till 33 years for JRF.

12. Those who are applying for college lectureship don't need to worry about age limit since there isn't any.

Re: Am I eligible to write UGC NET examination after completing B.Tech?

No, it is not possible to write UGC NET Exam after completing B.Tech. as the minium academic qualification for NET is poat Graduation.

UGC NET - University Grant Commission National Eligibility Test conducted by UGC for selection of Lectureship and award to Junior Research Fellowship(JRF).

The eligible candidate must be an Indian national having completed Post Graduation Degree in any stream from a recognised University with 55% marks. There is no upper age limit for those applying for Lectureship but those applying for JRF should be within the age of 28 years.

So you must complete M.Tech. to apply for UGC NET.

The applicant must have to complete Master's graduation with atleast 55% of marks from a recognised university.

Candidates must be an INDIAN origin.

For SC/ST candidates 5% of marks relaxation.

Final year persuing students can also applicable for this exam.

Age limits details:-

For Junior Research Fellowship:-

The age limits are 19 years to 28 years,

UGC organised this NET( National Eligibilty Test) all over India to mtech and Phd scholars.

Let me start with the eligibilty first:-

>>For this you should be at least 55% marks in Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognised by UGC.

>>Candidates who are applying this year in Master degree or passed can apply for this.

So in order to apply for this you should be a Mtech or a Ph.d Scholar, so you cannot apply this year.

Scheme of exam will be like this:-

There will be three sections:-

Section 1 - 100 marks(60 questions are there)

Section 2 - 100 marks(50 questions are there)

Section 3 - 150 marks(75 questions are there)

Examination fees :-

General Candidates Rs.450/-
Other Backward Classes Rs.225/-
SC/ST/PWD candidates Rs.110/-

I have attached the past year questions for 2012, you can check it here,
