Yes you can apply for many government jobs in India after completion of B.Tech. from a recognized University.

First you should apply for GATE which is conducted by IITs. If you qualify this exam then you will have a bright future in your field.

PSUs like BHEL, GAIL, SAIL, NTPC etc recruit freshers on the basis of GATE score. So if you get a good score in GATE then you can get a government job in these PSUs.

There are other government jobs also in various organisation like ISRO, BSNL and other government organisations which announce vacancies from time to time. You have to appear for written exam and interview. If you perform well then you will be selected.

There is Engineering Services exam conducted by UPSC for recruiting Officers in various government engineering services. The selection is based on written exam and interview.

You can try for bank exam for specialist officers post according to your engineering discipline. If you have experience in your field then you will have better chance.

So all in all there are many options available for your but you have to beat competition to get the government job.

Your marks are good in B.Tech course therefore you can try to find job in Public Sector Undertaking. Generally candidate is required to have at least 60 percent marks. But since you have scored 70%, it will definitely give you some edge.

What you should do before applying for the job in to clear the Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering (GATE). There are number of Public Sector Undertakings that do not conduct written test.

Here you will be asked to give GATE scorecard. Which is why I will recommend you to apply for the GATE exam and do as best as you can. If you already have appeared for the GATE then please ensure that the score is not more than 2 years old. The GATE score is only valid for 2 years.

After which you should start hunting for the Public Sector Undertaking jobs. There is no common entrance exam for PSU jobs. You will have to separately apply for job in each PSU company.

PSU Eligibility

1. At the moment only Indian can apply.

2. Candidate should have completed B.Tech course.

3. There should be no pending backlogs.

4. At least 60 percent marks are required.

5. A valid GATE score is also required.

6. Age limit is 21 to 30 years for the PSU job.

7. There is 3 years relaxation for OBC.

8. While the relaxation is 5 years for SC/ST.
