Re: What is the age limit to appear for NET exam? Dear There, NET stands for National Eligibility Test. The University Grants Commission conducts NET examination twice every year for filling up the posts of : a) Lecturers b) Junior Research Fellowship. Now , as per your question I would like to say that UGC has not set any age limit for Lecturer posts but for JRF posts the age limit for each category candidates is as follows: a) General candidates – 21 - 28 years b) OBC and SC/ST candidates have been granted 3 years relaxation and 5 years relaxation in upper age respectively.That means OBC candidates can apply upto the age of 31 years where SC/ST can apply upto 35 years of age. The other eligibility candidates must fulfill for the exam are as follows: • Candidates with Post Graduation in any stream from a recognized college / university. • A minimum 55% mark is required in Post Graduation in order to apply for the examination. • Candidates in the final year of Post Graduation are also eligible to apply. • Citizenship – Indian This is the all information I have for you. Re: What is the age limit to appear for NET exam? National Eligibility Test is conducted for two reasons. First is Junior Research Fellowship and second is college lectureship. So the age limit depends on whether you are applying for JRF or lectureship because it is different for the two. National Eligibility Test is bi-yearly entrance exam. It is conducted in June and December. The aim is to ensure good quality lecturers in government colleges to maintain high quality education. Just as NET is conducted for college lectureship you have TET which is conducted for school teachers. Both were started by the Ministry of Human Resources and Development to improve quality of education in government institutes. Like I earlier said that NET is conducted for two reasons. If you are applying for JRF then better do it before turning 28 years. While for lectureship there is no upper age limit. You are free to apply whenever you want. Please see the details below for complete information. NET Eligibility 1. Nationality: Indian citizens are allowed. 2. Qualification: Minimum of post graduation. 3. Marks: At least 55 percent in post graduation course. 4. Relaxation: There isn't any for OBC. 5. Relaxation: 5 percent for SC and ST. 6. Final year students can also apply for this exam. 7. But they should submit degree/mark sheet in 2 years. 8. Subject: It will depend on your post graduation degree. 9. Age Limit: 28 is the upper age limit for JRF. 10. Relaxation: 3 years for OBC. 11. Relaxation: 5 years for SC and ST. 12. Age Limit (lecturer) - Lower age limit is 19 years while no upper age limit. |

NET - National Eligibility Test, conducted by UGC(University Grant Commission) for selection of Lectureship and award to (Junior Research Fellowship). There is no restriction to upper age for those applying for Lectureship through NET but those applying for JRF should be within the age of 28 years with upper age relaxation for reserved candidate. Apart from this, the eligible candidate must be an Indian national having completed [post Graduation Degree with 55% marks in any stream from a recognized University, can apply for NET. NET stands for National Eligibility Test.Net exam is conducted by UGC.This exam will be conducted for the JRF(Junior Research Fellowship) and also for Eligibility to Lectureship. Eligibility Criteria: Candidate should have a citizen of India Candidate should complete graduation from any recognized university. Candidate should be secure minimum 55% of marks in their post graduation.(5% relaxation for SC/ST candidates). Age limit: There is no upper age limit for the candidate Lectureship. But to JRF candidates age limit between 19 to 28 years.Age relaxation upto 5 years is provided to SC/ST and OBC Candidates. All the best.......... |

NET exam is conducted for the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and also for Lectureship. So the age criteria is different as per these different posts. Age Criteria for Junior Research Fellowship: You should not more than 28 years. Age relaxation is upto 5 years provided to the various categories like SC/ST and OBC and PWD. Age criteria for Lectureship: There is no upper age limit for this Lectureship. Pattern of the examination : 1.The Test will consist of three papers of only objective type questions 2.The three papers will be conducted in two session. Paper I :Will contain the following questions : General awareness. Reasoning ability Divergent thinking Comprehension Paper II and Paper III will be based on the optional subjects chosen by the candidates. As per your query the Age Limit for the UGC NET is mentoned below, There is no Age Limit for the Lectureship. Whereas,for the Junior Research Fellowship program,you must not be more than 28 years of age. However there is a relaxation of 5 years for the SC/ST,Physically Disabled and Non-Creamy layer OBC candidates. Other Eligibility conditons are, You must be Master's Degree holder with a minimum of 55% marks. For determining the eligibility of applicants for Lectureship or Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Eligibility for Lectureship an exam is held by the University Grants Commission which is called the National Eligibility Test. Eligibility:- ## You need to do your post graduation or equivalent examination from UGC recognised universities/institutions and secure at least 55% of marks. ## There is 5% relaxation for the reserved category candidates. SC/ST/PWD candidates needs to get 50% of marks instead. ## Final year students are also allowed to give this examination. ## Final year students needs to pass their PG exam with the requisite percentage with two years of the NET results. That is mandatory. Age Criteria:- 1. Lectureship:- No Age Limit 2. JRF:- 28 years (Upper Age Limit) Application Procedure:- The whole application procedure is conducted online. Then you need to register your name with a valid email ID. Once the registration process is complete then you will be able to login by using the email ID. Over there after completing the formalities you will have to upload a passport size photograph in JPEG format. After that the details needs to be submitted and you will be asked to print the SBI Bank Challan. In any one of the nearest SBI Bank the amount can be paid.
