1.You must have a Degree in any stream from a recognised university
2.There is no required percentage required
3.Your age must be 21 years to 30 years
4.For SC/ST candidates 21 years to 35 years
5.The candidate must be a citizen of india.

Collector Cadre comes under IAS services,,,,

If you want to become an IAS officer, first you can crack for Civil Examination which is conducted by Union Public Service Commission in yearly ones.

Civil Examination is conducted for IAS/IPS service by Union Public Service Commission

For this Civil Examination some eligibility criteria's are there, if you satisfy these all eligibility criteria then you are eligible for Civil Examination ,,,,,,,

A.)Educational Qualification:-

The minimum qualification required for appearing the competitive examination is Graduation. Many professionals like Engineers, Doctors, persons with Ph.d qualifications are competing for UPSC.

B.)Age Factor:-

1.> For general category :-

21-30 years and can attempt 4 times.

2.>For SC/ST :-

21-35 years ,and there is no limitation .

3.> For the OBC:-

21-33 years and can attempt 7 times.

Paper Pattern for IAS exam :-

1) General-Studies paper carries 150 marks

2) Optional paper carries 150 marks.

Instead of one compulsory paper of General Studies and one Optional paper, both the papers shall be compulsory.

Hi friend..........

IAS(Indian Administrative Service) exam is conducted by the UPSC(Union Public Service Commission) only one time in a year.

Eligibility criteria:-

You should be complete graduation or an bachelor's degree from a recognised university.

The candidate must be a citizen of india.

Final year persuing candidates can also be eligible for this exam.

There is no required percentage to appear this exam.

Age criteria:-

For General candidates 21 years to 30years,

For OBC candidates 21 years to 33years,

For SC/ST candidates 21 years to 35 years.

For PH OBC candidates 21 years to 40years.


Number of Attempts:-

4 times for general candidates,

7 times OBC candidates,

No limit for SC/ST candidates.

Selection steps:-

***Civil services preliminary exam,

***Civil services main exam,

***Personal interview.


Civil service Preliminary exam:

Date of Notification:05/03/2013

Last Date for receipt of Applications:04/04/2013(Monday)

Date of commencement of exam:26/05/2013(Sunday)

Any stream ( Commerce / Arts / Science ) candidates are eligible to apply for this Examination . So you may take Specialization as you wish .

The Basic Qualification required to apply for Civil Service Examination , One should qualified in Bachelor degree in any discipline from recognized University .

At present you are 12th standard candidate . I suggest you to Concentrate and your studies and Score good percentage of marks in 12th board Examination . Develop your Communication and General Knowledge skill .

Age limits :

21-30 years as on 1.7.2012. (Upper age limit relaxable for SCs/STs, OBCs .


Educational Qualifications :

Bachelor’s degree of a recognised university with at least one of the subjects Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics,Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Enginerring.


No. of permissible attempts :


Four (Seven attemps of OBCs and no limit for SCs/STs)

The Person should have Completed Graduation
The Person Must be A Citizen Of India
The Person Must take the ICS test with age around 21-30.

The examination is conducted in two successive stages

1) Preliminary Exam & 2) Main Exam

Preliminary Examination consists of two papers of objective type of 450 Marks. Paper I is on general studies and Paper II on One optional subject

The Main Exam consists of a written exam and an interview. The written exam has 9 papers of conventional essay type. Marks obtained in the Main Exam will determine whether you are called for the interview. The interview carries 300 marks and the number of candidates called is about twice the number of vacancies. Paper I is again One optional language. Paper II

English. Paper III is an Essay. Paper IV & V on General Studies and

Paper VI-IX any two optional subjects. Marks obtained in the Main Exam plus interview determines the final ranking.
