National Eligibility Test is biyearly entrance exam for college lectureship and Junior Research Fellowship. It is conducted by the University Grants Commission for the central government colleges to ensure good quality education.

You can not apply for the National Eligibility Test unless completes a post graduation course. Bachelor of Technology is not good enough to appear for this exam. You will have to complete M.Tech or any other post graduation degree.

If interested in lectureship then I will suggest you to go for Master of Technology. After which good opportunities are available both in the government and private sector. There are some colleges which will also accept Bachelor of Technology degree holder as lecturer.

But there are very few such colleges and all would be private colleges. Besides you might be hired for temporary basis until the college could lay its hand on a M.Tech degree holder. If only interested in lectureship in government colleges then post graduation is must to appear for the National Eligibility Test.

NET Eligibility

1. Nationality: Only Indian nationals can apply.

2. Education: Must have completed post graduation.

3. However final year students are also eligible to apply.

4. Marks: You should have obtained 55 percent marks in post graduation.

5. Relaxation: 5% for SC/ST.

6. There is no relaxation for the OBC.

7. Subject: It would entirely depend on your PG degree.

8. Age Limit: 19 to 28 years is the age limit for JRF.

9. Relaxation: 31 years is the upper age limit for OBC.

10. Relaxation: While 33 is the limit for SC/ST.

11. Age Limit: For lectureship there is no upper age limit.
