After completing graduation in civil engineering you can apply for various jobs where the candidates are eligible for applying a job.

At present there are not much jobs in the field of civil engineering.

You can apply for the various other jobs where you can have good scope in it.

At present you can apply in Indian Navy as there are posts for Civil Engineering Candidates.

You are eligible to apply for ESE examination conducted by UPSC. In order to join PSU, you must have qualified GATE. Selection process is done on the basis of GATE score + GD + interview. You can try for banking sector jobs like 'Specialist Officer' or P.O. State government departments like KWA, Pollution Control Board, etc also offer adequate career openings.

Since you are Civil Engineer you can appear for the Indian Engineering Service. It is the best option for Engineering graduates to appear for the Indian Engineering Service entrance exam.

You should know that jobs Indian Engineering Service jobs are very reputed which is why thousands of Engineering graduates apply for them every year. But it also means that the exam would be quite competitive. And it is considered very tough exam to crack.

If you managed to clear the exam, the jobs will be given in the following departments.

Indian Railway Service of Engineers

Indian Railway Stores Service

Central Engineering Service

Indian Defense Service of Engineers

Indian Ordnance Factories Service (IOFS)

Central Water Engineering

Central Engineering Service (Roads)

Border Roads Engineering Service

You will consistently get promotions and may even offered job in Public Sector Undertaking as well. To apply for the Indian Engineering Service, you should meet the following requirements.

IES Requirement

1. The candidate should be of Indian origin.

2. B.Tech/B.E. degree from recognized college.

3. No marks criteria.

4. The age limit is 21 to 30 years.

5. Relaxation is 3 years for OBC.

6. Relaxation is 5 years for SC and ST.

Public Sector Undertaking is also good option. There are more than 150 such companies although there isn't any common written test. Each company issues notification regarding its requirement.

You will have to check websites of PSUs for job notification or subscribe to employment weeklies. Even the leading newspapers publishes the notifications from PSU.

The procedure of getting job is the first you will appear for written test and then interview. However a lot of companies have scrapped written test. Instead they ask for your GATE score.

Which is why I will recommend you to appear for the GATE entrance exam. If you have already appeared for it then please ensure that it should not be more than 2 years old. After which it is not valid and the candidate is required to reappear for the exam.

PSU Eligibility

1. You should have B.Tech degree.

2. With at least 60 percent marks.

3. There should be no pending backlogs.

4. GATE score should not be older than 2 years.

5. There is age limit of 21 to 30 years to apply.
