Re: How to join Indian Air Force being a girl pursuing 3rd year B.Tech in ECE? Dear student, indian air force offer excellent career opportunities to our young men and women. It is compulsory to pass the services selection board (ssb) interview for entry as a commissioned officer into army / navy / air force. These are the options by which you can join. 1) technical entry scheme :- you have to be in between 18-28 yrs having education qualification of a first class degree in engineering in branches like electrical or mechanical or any of the allied subjects. The mode of selection will be all india ekt and ssb interview. You can apply in response to ad during april and october. 2) university entry scheme:- age at the time of joining must be between 18 – 28 yrs. Pre- final engineering graduates can apply. The mode of selection will be all india ekt and ssb interview. You can apply in response to ad during october. These are the technical branch were permanent commission post is reserved for men only and shot service commission for both men and women. The second option will suit you as you are already doing your second year b.tech. Then again it’s your personal preferences that matters. All the best.. |

Women have limited entries in IAF as an Officer compared to the Men.IAF duties are split up in to three branches i.e Flying, Technical and Ground Duties. 1.Flying Branch:below mentioned is the only opportunity for women to enter into Flying Branch Flying (Pilot) Short Service Commission:-You will be eligible for this examination only in the final year or after completing your graduation but you need to have a minimum of 60% and your age group must be between 19 to 23 years.This examination is held twice in an year and the notifications are released in December and June of every year.Final year students can apply but they need to submit the required details like marks memo at the time of interview. Technical Branch Aeronautical Engineering (Electronics):-In this branch students who have studied 8 of the 18 subjects mentioned by the IAF can go through.So, usually ECE,EEE,Aeronautical Engineers must have gone through the subjects mentioned below (1) Physics / Engineering Physics. (2) Mathematics / Engineering Mathematics. (3) Engineering Graphics / Engineering Drawing. (4) Electrical Engineering / Electrical Technology. (5) Control Engineering. (6) Microprocessors. (7) Digital Electronics / Basic Electronics. (8) Computer Networks. (9) Information Technology. (10) Network Theory Design. (11) Telecommunication Systems. (12) Electronic Circuit Design. (13) Radar Theory. (14) Switching Theory. (15) Instrumentation. (16) Microwave Engineering. (17) Antenna and Wave Propagation. (18) Electronic Devices.
