SCRA is Special Class Railway Apprentice Examination conducted by UPSC.

You must be 10+2 passed with Physics, Chemistry and Maths to become eligible for this examination.


Age should be between 17 to 21 years and you must be an Indian Citizen.

The selection will be based on the performance in the Written Examination and Interview.

If you are in merit list then you will be selected for the SCRA.

After selection you will work as an Apprentice for 4 years and you will get stipend for it. The stipend will vary every year.

You will get all the benefits that a railway employee gets like travel allowance , Medical allowance and other benefits.

So it is one of the very good posts in Indian Railways. You have to be very well prepared for it to crack it.

SCRA stands for the Special Class Railway Apprentice Examination .UPSC conducts this entrance examination every year .

The eligibility criteria for the SCRA exam is as below :

>>You must have passed the 10+2 with the physics ,chemistry and mathematics from a recognized board.10+2 appearing candidates can also apply for the exam .

>>The age limit for the exam is 17-21 years and with age relaxations applicable to the obc and sc/st candidates in upper age limit.

>>You must be Indian citizen.

Every year this examination is conducted in the month of January .This year SCRA exam has already been conducted .

In order to go for the SCRA exam ,You need to practice on the subjects like physics ,chemistry and mathematics.

Examination pattern is as below:

SCRA: Special Class Railway Apprentices.
This examination is conducted by UPSC, Every year and to apply for this examination you have to complete your 12th examination OR Graduate degree course with Mathematics and at least one of the subjects Physics and Chemistry as their degree subjects.

Final year appearing candidates are also apply for SCRA Examination.

To apply for this examination, your age should between 17 to 21 Years, Upper age relaxation is applicable for SC/ST/OBC Candidates.

You will only eligible to apply for this exam only when you will get passed your 10+2 Education.The Eligibility required are :-

Nationality :-
~Indian .

Educational qualification :-
~You should be passed out in 10+2 with Science stream from recognized board.
~Your subjects in 10+2 should be Physics,Chemistry and Mathematics.


Age :-
~Your minimum age should be 17 years.
~Your age should not be above 21 years.

Age Relaxations :-
~SC/ST/Physically Handicapped persons will get 5 years of age relaxations.
~OBC Category candidates will get 3 years of age relaxations.

Candidates age minimum 17 years and not more than 21 years and the passed 10+2 class with first or second division in mathematics, physics or chemistry.
