Re: Any chance to get a government job after scoring 60% in B.Tech ECE 3rd year

Hi Guest,

Most of the government jobs will be asking for a percentage of 60% and above.

It is better to maintain a minimum of 60% throughout your academics.

As of now you are in third year I suggest you to improve your percentage by the time you complete your graduation.

The different jobs where you can apply in government sector are as follows;

IBPS EXAMS

UPSC EXAMS

SSC EXAMS

DEFENCE EXAMS

As you are from B.Tech ECE you are eligible for many core companies in government sector like:

ECIL

COAL

GAIL

BHEL

NTPC

NPCIL

And many other companies………

Thank you,

All the best.

Yes you can definitely opt for government jobs. There are lots of options for you after passing b.tech to get a govt. job.
You can appear in the GATE examination and if you score well in it then you can get a job in the govt. sector from your gate score.
Another option is that you opt for the civil service i.e, through CSAT examination conducted by UPSC. Indian Engineering Services(IES) can also give you a good and top government job. But for all these jobs you have to prepare well.
Another option for you is that you choose defence services. For this you have to appear in the CDS examination or apply separately in reply to the respective advertisements.

>>Your age should not be above 28 years.
>>Your degree should be approved from the AICTE.

Educational Qualification:-

>>You must be passed out in your Engineering degree.

Dear,

Since your overall percentage is 60% its good. Maintain it in 4th year also. After B.tech you have many options for government jobs. Government jobs are not given on the basis of your marks. Marks are just an eligibility criteria to write PSU exams and other exams to get this job.

You can try for following jobs in government sectors:
Graduate trainee engineer in PSU:
For this you are required to write PSU exams which all the PSU conduct separately based on their requirement and vacancies. Many PSUs recruit candidates through GATE scores. So you can write GATE exam but you will need to work raeally very hard for it.

Banking jobs:
Many B.tech students perform very well in IBPS and CWE exams which are meant for clerk and PO posts in PSU banks. These are preferred by most of the candidates because of job security, some great allowances and respected job profile.

Civil services:
You can also write UPSC exams for IAS or PCS or any civil services posts. B.tech students perform really well in these exams so if you have that capability you should give a try to it at least once.

Apart from all this don't miss your campus placement as government jobs are not meant for every one. So, always have a plan B in your life.

All the best!

Re: Any chance to get a government job after scoring 60% in B.Tech ECE 3rd year

You can get government jobs upon completion of the course. The engineering students have two options for the government jobs that are related to your field. You can take a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) exam or the second option is that you appear for the Indian Engineering Service.

If you manage to maintain the 60 percent marks throughout the course then you would be eligible for both. In case your marks dropped below 60 percent after final year, then you would not be able to apply for the Public Sector Undertaking jobs.

Let's first begin with PSU. The PSU basically is a company in which government both state or center holds minimum of 51 percent stake. There are total of 250+ such companies in India that are related to various fields.

There companies conduct their separate exam to recruit engineers. The exam pattern is written test followed by interview. But some PSUs don't conduct written test and instead ask for GATE score. If you are meeting the criteria below then feel free to apply for the PSU exam.

Eligibility

1. You should be Indian citizen.

2. A B.Tech degree from a recognized university.

3. At least 60 percent marks.

4. There should be no pending backlogs at the time of applying.

5. The age limit to apply is 21 to 30 years.

6. Three years relaxation is given to OBC and 5 years for SC/ST.

List of PSU

NTPC

HPCL

IOCL

ONGC

BPCL

MTNL

BSNL

ECIL

GAIL

NALCO

SAIL

DRDO

ISRO

3. There is no percentage criteria.

Hi, for any Govt. job, the eligibility criteria for general category candidates is 60% aggregate in Engineering.

As long as you satisfy this criteria, you are eligible for all the Govt. jobs.

Some Govt. companies which are open for you are:

BHEL
HPCL
BPCL
NTPC
HAL

You can also appear for IES (Indian Engineering Service) exam conducted by UPSC.

Through IES, you can join Indian Railways, Water supply board, Public works Dept., etc.

This exam is conducted every year in the month of June followed by an interview. Merit list is then prepared and posts are finally allocated.
