Re: Eligible for IES exam if I am a final year Btech in IT student? IES Stands for Indian Engineering Service Examination and this examination is conducted by Union Public Service Commission Once in a year . Candidate should have a completed engineering degree and the Engineering degree in :-
Eligibility Criteria for IES :- ~~You should have a completed Engineering degree from a recognized University. ~~You should have a minimum 21 years and maximum 30 years and Relaxation is applicable for SC/ST/OBC and other reserved categories . ~~3 years for OBC , 5 years for SC/ST . ~~Final year of degree course may also eligible to apply for IES exam . ~~Last date for receipt of application on 09/04/12 and Date of examination :- 15/06/12 . Those who are applied for Engineering Service examination and the candidate have to download the admit card from official website of Union Public Service Commission . I am very sorry, to say inform you, that, you are nopt eligible for the IES [INDIAN ENGINEERING SERVICES], conducted by UNION PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION [UPSC]. For appear in this examination., you must have a graduation degree from a recognized college in these streams that I have mentioned below- 1. CIVIL ENGINEERING 2.MECHANICAL ENGINEERING 3.ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING 4.ELECTRICAL & COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING... So,, IT students are not eligible for this exam.... Any way, the age limit for this examination is 21-30 years, there are 5 & 3 years of the age relaxations are applicable for the SC\ST & OBC candidates. respectively.. Thank you!!!! ~gamble~ |

Re: Eligible for IES exam if I am a final year Btech in IT student? you are legible but you have to write the exam only in civil,mechanical,electrical or electronics stream only,as there are only four option in ies exam,so if you can prepare in any one of the subjects above then write the exam all the best. |

You said that you are from IT department Not all department are allowed for IES examination. These streams are allowed for IES examination : >ECE >CSE >IT >CIVIL >MECHANICAL >EE But you should have these criteria for this examination ; educational qualification : You must have completed your graduation from the above departments with minimum 60% marks from any recognized university. As you are in final year of B.tech in IT stream then you can go for the exam.. All the best. |

The eligibility criteria is as follows: Age Limits: 21-30 years as on 1st August of applying for the exam. (Upper age limit relaxable for SCs/STs, OBCs and certain other categories) Educational Qualifications: Degree in Engineering or equivalent. You have to choose one of the following subjects as your stream. -Electrical -Electronics and Communication' -Civil -Mechanical because in IES only these branches are available. |

In IES exam there are only four branches: -Electrical -Electronics and Communication' -Civil -Mechanical Hence you should try some other exam or certifications. |

The branches like Civil, Mechanical, Electrical etc are optional subjects to appear for IES. It is NOT THAT ONLY THESE DISCIPLINES ARE ELIGIBLE. PLEASE DONT PROVIDE WRONG INFORMATION.
