Eligibility For NET

A candidate is eligible for National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by UGC if :-

>> A candidate is either in the final year of M.Sc. or has already completed M.Sc. with an aggregate of 55% without rounding off..

>> Candidate must be within the age limit of 28 years as seen on 1st of June or 1st December if applying for JRF..no upper age limit for lectureship..

This year you are not eligible but you will eligible to appear next year..

The NET Exam is conducted every year in June and December..

I have attached the syllabus and some previous year question papers of Computer Science UGC NET..

You can Click Here for more details on the exam..

all the best..

You can apply for the National Eligibility Test during the final year of post graduation course. But you can not apply before that. For example you can not apply for NET during the first year of M.Sc or MA course.

Even for final year candidates there are certain rules. For example such candidates have to submit their post graduation degree within 2 years of clearing NET. Unable to do so would disqualify you.

Similarly you will have to meet the percentage criteria as well. If you cleared the post graduation with less than 55 percent marks, it would also result in your disqualification. These are the important points that you need to remember when applying for the National Eligibility Test during final year of post graduation.

NET Eligibility

1. Candidate should be Indian citizen.

2. Master degree in any discipline.

3. At least 55 percent marks in master degree course.

4. SC/ST need 50 percent marks.

5. Final year students can also apply.

6. You should select NET subject which is relevant to post graduation degree.

7. There is no restriction on number of attempts.

Age Limit

1. For JRF age limit is 28 years.

2. There is no upper age limit for college lectureship.
