Maharashtra Public Service Commission, State Service Main papers are aimed at challenging the student’s knowledge of his subject and testing him for his presence of mind as well as application of theoretical knowledge into practical use. Questions can be asked from various topics some of which include different categories for measuring water on a farm, India’s water problem and the various causes and solutions that can be offered for it, different types of wells used in India with sketches of some, the need for water resources planning, the need for a watershed basis to water resources planning, objectives and components of watershed management, advantages of Parshall flumes over weir, precautions to be used while operating weirs and so on. These test a student’s understanding of the subject itself and help an examiner determine whether the knowledge gained in the subject is genuine and in-depth or not.
