Hi,, GATE exam, as you know is a highly competitive exam where many people are writing this exam for doing their MTech in IITs and NITs, some are them require high score of GATE. >>As for your case, a score of 290 is not a big deal even though you are from OBC, it will be hard for you to seal the deal, if you could have got around 500-700 range, less it shouldn't be worry at all, as you will get NITs easily in spot counselling also. If there is luck you may get some colleges, apply for all the lower NITs in the counselling too. So, the best thing for you is apply to some of the best private colleges like SRM University VIT University Bits Pilani PSG college of Technology Bits Mesra etc All the best, and hope that you will get one, gratitude!!
