Hi,
Thanks for reaching out us here, I would suggest you to do aeronautical engineering from IITs/NIT and good reputed private colleges in India.

It's all depends upon your interest, passion and hardworking dedication towards your goal weather you opt to do aeronautical or aircraft mainteinance courses.

Thanks.

You have to do aeronautical or mechanical engg course from good institutes like indian institute of technology, national institute of technology and institutes of high reputes again do not do engg for the heck of it.lakhs of engineers pass out everyear from thousands of institutes throughout india.so a good institute will play crucial factor in ur life. When u do degree 4 yrs course like mechanical or aeronautical one improves the flexibility of employement and can also go for further studies but one cannot do any further study and the option is also limited to only airlines.

Do not make the mistake by doing aircraft maintenance(AME) engg course in india or anywhere in abroad it is total useless and Waste of time.Reason simple there are not much oppurtunities and this will go on FOREVER.AME is a license course conducted by D.G.C.A.Its a three year course. Its not a degree course. In india the aviation industry is painted in sorry state of affairs. There are more than 50 to 60 institutes of aircraft maintenance institutes approved by D.G.C.A out of them some are not functional, producing thousands of students in the market specializing in heavy aeroplane, rotary aircraft, jet engines and avionics i.e instruements systems, radio navigation and electrical systems. The market requirement is less than 300 students.Even if your hired do not expect magical six digit salary figures all u will get is 10 to 15 thousand rupees thats it,its only after years of exp in the field u will get salary above a lakh or so that to all will not get it only few who become enginners from technicians will get that kind of salary.(Note-ITS VERY IMPORTANT TO KNOW THAT PASSING OUT FROM ANY AME INSTITUTE WILL NOT MAKE YOU A ENGINEER NEITHER U WILL BE CALLED A ENGINNER.AN ENGINEER IS A PERSON WHO HAS BEEN APPROVED ON A PARTICULAR AIRCRAFT WHICH NEEDS YEARS OF EXPERIENCE LIKE 5 TO 6 OR EVEN 10 TO 15 IN SOME CASES.PEOPLE WHO R NOT APPROVED ARE TECHNICIANS AND THEIR VALUE IN AVIATION INDUSTRY IS DIME A DOZEN.)
I WILL EXPLAIN YOU HOW IT WORKS IN AVIATION INDUSTRY IN MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT.
TAKE FOR EXAMPLE A AIRLINES HAS THREE SAME MODELS OF AIRCRAFT THAT IS 3 BELL 206L3 HELICOPTERS OR 3 AIRBUS A320 JET.NOW TO CERTIFY THE AIRCRAFT AIRWORTHY THERE NEEDS TO BE A ENGINEER WHO IS APPROVED ON THAT PARTICULAR AIRCRAFT.NOW WHENEVER THE AIRCRAFT HAS TO FLY THE ENGINEER WILL CERTIFY THE AIRCRAFT.NOW IF HE CAN CERTIFY ONE AIRCRAFT THAT IS AIRBUS A320 OBVIOUSLY HE CAN CERTIFY THE OTHER 2 AIRCRAFTS AS WELL WHICH IS OF THE SAME MODEL THE AIRLINES HAS.NOW THE AIRLINES WILL SAY WHY I SHOULD I HIRE 3 ENGINEERS WHEN I CAN HIRE ONE AND DO THE SAME JOB.THIS IS WHAT ALL AIRLINES ATLEAST IN INDIA AND ESPECIALLY IN HELICOPTER INDUSTRY DO.THEY HAVE SAME MODEL AIRCRAFTS AND HIRE MINIMUM NO.OF ENGINEERS.MINIMUM OF FUSS.MAXIMUM PROFITS.AND THEIR MINDS WORK FULL TIME CUTTING COST WHICH IS OBVIOUSLY VERY NATURAL IN ANY BISINESS.

NOW ONE MIGHT THINK IF THERE IS A MAJOR MAINTENANCE ON THE AIRCRAFT THERE WILL BE A LOT OF ENGINEERS VANCANCY AS MANY ENGINEERS ARE REQUIRED TO DO THE JOB.THIS IMPRESSION IS WRONG.ONE CAN SUPERVISE A WORK AND TWO TO THREE AIRCRAFTS SIMULTANEOUSLY THEY WILL GIVE COMMANDS AND THE WORK IS DONE BY TRAINEE TECHS WHICH AIRLINES HIRE FROM INSTITUTES THAT U WILL PASS OUT AND PAY THEM PEANUTS BEACAUSE THEY HAVE SIMPLE POLICY IF U DONT WANT TO WORK THERE ARE OTHER PEOPLE WAITING FOR THIS JOB AND WHO R READY TO WORK FOR MERE 5 THOUSAND RUPEES.ALL AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE INSTITUTES IN INDIA ARE PURELY MONEY MAKING INSTITUTES EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM.I HAVE BEEN TO A NO.OF INSTITUTES THEY ALL ARE HOPELESS TO SAY THE LEAST.ALL INSTITUTES WILL CLAIM AND MAKE BIG PROMISES ALL R FAKE DO NOT TRUST THEM.NOT EVEN A SINGLE AME INSTITUTES THROUGHOUT INDIA SELECT CANDIDATES THROUGH ENTRANCE EXAMS THEY ALL R LIKE FIRST COME FIRST BASIS.THERE IS NO MERIT.WHAT CAN U EXPECT FROM SUCH INSTITUTES WHO ADMIT TOM DICK AND HARRY IN THEIR INSTITUTES.SO I WOULD STRONGLY ADVICE EACH AND EVERY ASPIRING AME'S TO RECONSIDER THEIR DECISION OF TAKING ADMISSION IN SUCH INSTITUTES AND INSTEAD WORK HARDER AND CLEAR ENTRANCE EXAMS OF GOOD INSTITUTES AND GET SEATS THROUGH MERIT AND SECURE UR FUTURE.

So the solution is to do aeronautical or mechanical engg course from good institutes like indian institute of technology, national institute of technology and institutes of high reputes again do not do engg for the heck of it.lakhs of engineers pass out everyear from thousands of institutes throughout india.so a good institute will play crucial factor in ur life. When u do degree 4 yrs course like mechanical or aeronautical one improves the flexibility of employement and can also go for further studies but one cannot do any further study and the option is also limited to only airlines.

Re: Which position is having good career scope between Aircraft Maintenance Engineer and Aeronautical Engineer?

Doing aircraft maintenanace course at the moment is not a good option(infact it will become worst decision u had ever took).this is not a degree just a licensed course.now just think 3 yrs for a licensed course.what is the scope of that license.you can only work in airlines.at present there is no job for fresher.nearly more than 6000 students pass out each year.where the demand is just 200.till now in india there are 1000 aircraft operating scheduled and non scheduled.and the requirement is 5 technician per aircraft.so doing this course is not a wise move.i completed A.M.E from a reputed institution in delhi. couldnt even get an apprentice. not only me, all of my batch guys are jobless and dont know what to do????????????
