Re: Can a person wearing glasses join Indian Army? A candidate should be able to read 6/6 in a distant vision chart with each eye with or without glasses. Myopia should not be more than 3.5D and hypermetropia not more than 3.5D including Astigmatism. |

It is nice to hear that you want to join Indian Army. To join Indian Army, you will have to appear for the NDA(National Defence Academy) examination, which is conducted by UPSC(Union Public Service Commission) every year. For these three reputed wings, NDA examination is conducted:- * Indian Army. * Indian Navy. * Indian Air Force. The eligibility criteria required for the Indian Army are prescribed as below:- * Completion of 12th with Arts or Commerce stream from any accredited board. * Age limit:- 16.5-19 yrs. * Age relaxation:- Not provided. * Marital status:- Unmarried or single. * Sex:- Male. * Nationality:- Indian. * Physical eligibility:-  Eye sight for NDA examination:-  NDA examination syllabus:-  The selection procedure for the NDA examination is mentioned as below:- * Written examination. * SSB interview. * Medical examination. You have cleared your 12th from a recognized board.. Only unmarried male candidates are eligible. Age limit between of 16.5-19 years.. Eye Sight: Uncorrected without glass – 6/12 Corrected with glass – 6/6 Limits of Hypermetropia – +2.5 Limits of Myopia – 3.5 all the best........... |

NDA-I NDA-II NDA eligibility: You should be Indian. You should complete the 12th standard. No percentage required The age limit is between 16.5 to 19 years. Only unmarried male candidates are eligible Female candidates are not eligible Eye Sight: All the best............ |

Indian Army Aspirants, first crack the NDA Examination NDA stands for National Defense Academy which is conducted by Union Public Service Commission in yearly twice Eye Sight for NDA Eye Sight are as follows: 1.For Army - To read in a distant vision chart with each eye, with or without glasses, Myopia: Not more than 2.5 D, Hypermetropia: Not more than 3.5 D including Astigmatism. 2.For Army - Distant vision 6/6, 6/9 correctable to 6/6. Near vision N-5 each eye, Myopia: Nil, Hypermetropia: 2 D Sph. Astigmatism 0.75 Color Vision CPI (MLT) after reading this you can surely make out that you are eligible or not. |

So you must have a proper eyesight according to the criteria then only you will be allowed to join Indian Army. The eyesight should be according to the following criteria: You can join Indian Army through NDA Examination after 10+2 and CDS examination after graduation. There are non officer posts like Clerk, Nursing Assistant and General Duty Soldier after 10+2 for which also one can apply. The selection in Indian Army will be mainly based on the following stages: -Written Exam -SSB Interview -Medical Examination If you want to join Indian Army then you have to pass all the above stages with merit. since your job will be technical & you will be appointed on the basis of engineering,so you are eligible for Army service,provided you fulfill the following criteria:- Unmarried male applicants in the Technical Branches (Engineering and Electrical) are the only prospectives for this examination. Age limit: 19 ½ to 25 years (candidate to be born between 02 Jan 1985 to 01 Jul 1990; both dates inclusive). Applicant must hold a BE/B Tech (or equivalent) from Recognised University or AMIE with minimum 55% marks in aggregate. Calculation for aggregate percentage should be based on total marks obtained in all the semesters divided by total number of semesters, candidates in 8th semester can also apply provided they have aggregate of 55% marks till 7th semester. Physical Standards Minimum height – 157 cms with correlated weight The minimum acceptable vision for distant vision should be 6/24 6/24 (correctable to 6/6, 6/6 with glasses) Should not be colour/night blind. Can a person wearing glasses join Indian Army? sir,I am studying final year b.tech in electrical stream.I have an eye sight of -1.5 for both the eyes and I have undergone root canal treatment for one of my tooth.Is am I applicable to join Indian army .Please suggest me ,sir. |
