Re: What is the eligibility criteria for IPS entrance exam? What is the date of sale of forms?

Firstly I will point out that you can not register for Civil Services Exam this year. Unfortunately the last date to apply has passed and now you can only wait for next year to apply for the exam.

Indian Police Service has very critical role of maintaining law and order in the state. IPS officers take part in various anti terror operations as well provide security to VIP.

During the communal riots situation, IPS officers play critical role especially in the intellegence wing that provides valuable information to the police machinery.

If you want to become IPS officer then it is necessary to clear the Civil Services Examination. The forms for the exam are made available during the first 3 months of the year and the examination states in May.

Eligibility

1. Indian citizens only can appear for it.

2. Gradudation degree from valid college.

3. No minimum percentage requirement.

4. You should not be younger than 21 years.

5. 30 years is upper age limit.

Relaxation

1. three years in upper age limit for OBC.

2. Up to 5 years for SC and ST.

Selection Procedure

Upon successful registration for the Civil Services Examination you will be called to appear for the preliminary exams in May. There are 2 written tests and your purpose is to clear them to appear for Main Exam.

The marks scored here are not added in the final tally of the candidate. Two months later sometime in August the candidates who have cleared the preliminary are called to appear for Main Examination.

There are 9 written tests in main exam that will add to your final tally after which you will appear for personal interview.

How To Register

You can visit the official website to check out procedure - www.upsc.gov.in
