Civil Services Main Mechanical Engineering (Paper I) Exam - Download Previous Years Question Papers The civil services examination, conducted by the Union Public Service Commission, is one of the toughest exams of India. This exam is the entrance for the most coveted posts of our country, such as IAS and IPS. The exam is held in two phases. The preliminary examination is for screening purpose. On clearing the preliminary exam, students can sit for the mains. Mechanical Engineering is one of the optional subjects. The preliminary paper is objective type, while the main examination is conventional. The syllabus is of degree level. As the competition in civil services is fierce, extensive preparation is required. The questions of the subject can also be said as pretty tough. Both the competition and the standard of the examination are very high.
