Re: difference between bsc nautical sciences and Btech marine engineering To become a seafarer, following streams of entries (Pre-Sea courses) are available to Indian citizens in the Government as well as in private training institutions (recognized and approved by Director General of Shipping, Ministry of Shipping) You can join merchant navy through two fields: Nautical science and Marine engineering field Navigational fields Now since both the fields are different the eligibility for both of them is also different: now the field in which you should be interested is Nautical science and Marine engineering field as you can do this after 12 th. Eligibility criteria for Nautical science and Marine engineering: You should have passed your 10+2 or an equivalent examination with physics, chemistry and mathematics. you must be Indian citizen. Age limit for candidates is 16 years to 19.5 years while training. If you are filling the eligibility criteria then you can go for the exam. In order to join the marine engineering you have to give the exam conducted by various institutes or you can opt for marine engineering in your engineering entrance exams. |

Re: difference between bsc nautical sciences and Btech marine engineering B.tech marine engineering is much useful compared to B.sc nautical science. For B.tech marine engineering you need to write competitive exams like IIT/AIEEE/CET but you don't require any entrance test for B.sc nautical science. After passing out the B.sc course you can apply only for deck cadet after having your 12 month sea training.But,B.tech students can apply for junior engineer in the ship. all the best |

Re: difference between bsc nautical sciences and Btech marine engineering i think if you study engineering you will be marine engineer and gradually will be chief engineer, and that is mean the highest technical level on board the vessel and the responsible person for all machineries on board the vessels and will hold first class certificate as captain, but will not involved in navigation matter and ship full management, and if you hold captain ticket that is mean you are a navigator also you have the authority to apply the low on board the vessel and the authority to deal with port state, gurisdication flag state and all external branchs, but you have to know, an engineering knowledge level higher than navigation and can be more useful to your future. hopefully you got somthing. |

Re: difference between bsc nautical sciences and Btech marine engineering according to me here is a breifing that i am providing you which will certainly help you in understanding what is the major difference between the two but i completely leave the decision to go with which course upon you .. and i think after reading what i think about the courses which you have asked for may give you some aspects to think upon before you join any of them.. hope you get them.. Marine engineering:::: it is a specialized field of study which deals with the engineering aspects of marine related equipment found on board ships, boats and so forth. Infact it is a very vast subject and there are several related fields of study such as naval architecture which may not directly fall under the purview of marine engineering but act as sister arenas. If you want to have a broad idea about the types of machineries found on board commercial vessels. Bsc. Nautical Science:::: this course will lead the candidates to become the Captain of the ship. Captain of the ship is also referred as Master mariner. On successful completion of this pre-sea training, the candidates are eligible to become nautical Deck Cadets on board a ship. The leading international shipping companies are regularly conducting campus interviews for the job placement. This course consists of six semesters. The B.Sc (Nautical Science) degree will be awarded by the University on the successful completion of Three years duration. After 3 years, the cadets will be joining as the Trainee Cadet Officers on board the ship. They will have to obtain 12 months sea experience. On completion of 12 months sea experience, they will be promoted directly as SECOND OFFICER without any further examinations. With further sea service & exams, they will be promoted to Chief Officer and then becoming Captain of the ship. wish you good luck and all the very best for your career hope after reading it you will be in some position to make a fir decision or can think upon which course you want to opt for..bye take care .. good luck... |
