i have taken a physics, chemistry bt i have not taken a maths so am i eligible for merchant navy or no insted of maths i have taken optional subject i.e. psychology.....?

dear friend
since you are from the Btec field you eligible to joing in the merchant navy , i think you have to go for a one year training in the marine field if you are selected , there will be a tough entrance exam , you should pass this exam to get an admission in the merchant ,so you have to prepare very well to appear for the exam ,..............

After completing your Mechanical Engineering you can not directlly enter into Merchant engineering ..for this yo need to go for some Particular courses which only shipping companies and Consultant companies offers ..for which you will have to pay some feesa nd will have to under go some Bonds ..after that course gets over ,you will be placed in some company..and after completing your training you will be alloted a tag..

It is a good option to have a career in the navy. There are many ways to enter in to merchant Navy for candidates from different background. As you are have B.Tech you need to undergo a 1 year pre-sea training course. Candidates can pursue a career as an officer ranking and in the Nautical. Pre sea course are offered in different government as well as private training institution. This institution is under the control of ministry of shipping. The advertisement for admission to these pre-sea training courses will be published in different news papers. Candidates need to qualify in the entrance exam. Candidates must also pass the physical fitness test. After the pre-sea training, candidates will be recruited by government or private companies in India or abroad as well.

Sir, i m doing B.TECH (E.C.E) in 2nd year, i gave enterance test for deck cadet last year & i cleared it but due to some reasons i could not attend interview ,therefore i didn't get sponsership. now i want to join it tell me what can i do?

Sorry, you can not join Merchant Navy with 12th pass from Commerce stream as you are not fulfilling the educational criteria for this.

The eligible candidate should complete 12th with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with 60% marks from a recognised Central/State Board and should be within 20 years of age to apply for Merchant Navy. There is minimum age relaxation for SC/ST candidate for 5 years.

The candidate shall be admitted to Nautical Science and Marine Engineering course under Merchant Navy.

Sorry to say that only Science stream with 12th standard are applicable for Merchant Navy exam.

But you are from Commerce department so you are not eligible for Merchant Navy Exam.But you are applicable for NDA (Indian Army ) Exam.

The details of the Merchant Navy Exam is given below.

Eligibility criteria for Merchant Navy course

Unmarried male and female candidate are eligible .
Candidates passing 12th with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics are eligible for Merchant Navy course.
Age requirement is not more than 20 years.
SC/ST Students 25 years is maximum age , these categories are given relaxation of five years.

A candidate should be physically and mentally fit.

1. Eye Sight = 6/6,

It is to Inform you that to join Merchant Navy after 12th one should pass his/her 12th standard with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics subject.

-> So as 12th passed with commerce stream student, you are not eligible to apply for Merchant Navy....Sorry

Well there are two options in Merchant Navy:->

1. Nautical science and Marine engineering

2. Navigational and Engineering fields

1. Eligibility conditions for Nautical science and Marine engineering:

You should have passed your 12th or an equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from central/state board or recognized school.

You must have minimum 60% marks in PCM.

Your Age should not be more than 20 years{5 years relaxation for ST/SC}

2. Eligibility conditions for Navigational and Engineering fields of Merchant Navy
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

You must complete a Bachelors degree in Nautical Science or Marine engineering.

You must have secured minimum 55% marks.

Your Age must be between 18 to 24 years.

Physical requirements for Merchant navy as follows:

You should be physically and mentally fit.
