Re: Can a 10th passed student appear for Navy?

Hello Friend,

Its great that you wanna join Indian Navy.

But unfortunately as per your academic qualifications, you cannot join Indian Navy. This is because you fail in fulfilling the eligibility criteria required for the NDA Examination which offers the earliest chance to join Indian Defense.

For your sake, I have mentioned the complete Eligibility Criteria for NDA Examination :

1) Your age must lie in between 16.5 - 19 yrs.

2) You must have passed 12th from any recognized board if willing to join Indian Army. In case of AFA and Indian Naval Academy, you must have passed 12th with Physics and Mathematics as your main subjects.

3) You must be a citizen of India.

4) You must have good mental and physical status.

5) You must be unmarried.

6) No relaxation is given to any candidate in any criteria.

The NDA Examination is conducted solely every year twice by the Union Public Service Commission.

The Examination consists of two parts which you need to pass :

a) Written examination : 900 marks

b) SSB Interview : 900 marks

This is the information I have to the best of my knowledge regarding your query. Hope the information will help you to the extent you want.

Yes, a 10th passed student can join Indian navy as Sailor but after 12th standard from Science stream, one can join Indian Navy as an Officer through cracking NDA entrance exam.

NDA stands for National Defence Academy, the entrance exam for which is conducted by UPSC twice every year as NDA-I and NDA-II for entry in to Indian Army, Navy and Air Force wing of NDA.

The eligible candidate aspiring to join Indian Navy of NDA, must be an unmarried Indian male candidate having either appear for the final 12th exam or pass with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from a recognised Board within the age of 16.5 to 19 years with good Physical and Mental health.
