Re: Exam for becoming a Pilot in India after 12th standard?

Entrance exam is not the actual think that matter for pilot training, its money that matters most because aquairing CPL is niether an easy nor a less costly.

However, you have to go through entrance exam for becoming pilot. That entrance will be Pilot Aptitude Test (PAT). PAT is a common name for entrance conducted by different institutes and flying clubs and schools. If we talk about any big or national based entrance like that for engineering IITJEE is there, then it is WOMBAT.

WOMBAT is conducted by Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Udan Academy (IGRUA) which is a national level entrance for getting admission into India's Best Pilot training school/institute i.e; IGRUA.

Even if one doesn't opt for IGRUA, other top institutes and clubs like:-

Government Flying Training Institute,Kolkata.
Government Flying Training Centre, Lucknow.
Bangalore Aeronotics Technical Services Pvt Ltd., (BATS), Bangalore.
Tata Nagar Aviation, Jamshedpur
Flytech Aviation Ltd., Hyderabad
Teneja Aerospace and Aviation Ltd. Bangalore.

Good luck...............

About PAT: That entrance is nothing but to check candidates proficiency in Mathematics, English and some basics of air navigation, which consists of subjects like- Physics, Geography, Airodynamics etc. Physics, English, Maths and Geography are not head ache as they are totally 12th standard based.

Candidates who able to crack Aptitude test have to go through various Medical Fitness Test. Where almost 50% of the shorlisted candidates gets rejected in the ground of weak fitness or not meeting the standard.
