Re: Suitable subjects and books for IAS Officer exam?

There is no specific subjects or stream or discipline which ensure your success in the examination. Only the deep basic knowledge, strong grasping power, good memory, better concentration level, hard work, sincerity, dedication, determination, etc are responsible for success in the examination.

You are advised to choose only those subjects for IAS Examination in which either you are fundamentally strong or have studied those subjects in school or college level. Don't gamble on choosing absolutely new subjects for you.

Best books for IAS Examination are listed below:

* India Since Independence by Bipil Chandra
* A History of Modern World by Ranjan Chakravati
* A New Look at Modern India History by B L Grover
* India's Struggle for Independence by Bipin Chandra
* India and World Geography by Majid Hussain
* Indian Economy & Performance and Policies by Uma Kapila
* Mc Graw Hill Education Series Indian Economy for Civil Services Examination by Ramesh Singh
* Mc Graw Hill Education Series Indian Polity for Civil Services Examination by M. Laxmi Kanth
