Re: Possibility of studying LLB through open university?

Hi Friend...................

Generally there is two ways to do the LLB course.

First after the 10+2,the eligibility for this is:

>> You must have scored at least 50% in 10+2 from any stream.

>> Your age should not exceed 20 years.

>> You have to qualify for the CLAT examinations.

>> CLAT stands for common law admission test.

>> The duration of this LLB course is five years.

After qualifying this examination with good marks ,you are eligible to get admission in good colleges which offers this course.

Second is doing LLB after graduation.

>> The duration for this LLB is only 3 years.

>> Grdauation in any stream from a recognised university in any stream.

Syllabus for entrance examination

>> Logical reasoning

>> General awareness

>> Aptitude test

>> Communication skills.

Some good institutes for this course:

>> Amity law school

>> National institute of law

>> Chanakya law university.

LLB is the course in law which enables the individual to enroll as an advocate under the Bar Council of India which is mandatory to be considered eligible to practice in the court of law.
This program (LLB) is regulated by Bar Council of India and as per the council's guidelines, the course must be pursued through the regular mode and as a result, this course is not offered through distance mode by any university.

However, candidates willing to pursue course in Law through distance mode may pursue various courses in this field but none of them is consideredequivalent to LLB.

Some of the universities offering courses in Law through distance mode:
Mahatama Gandhi University
Jammu university
Kurukshetra University
Annamalai University
Indira Gandhi National Open University - IGNOU

Re: Possibility of studying LLB through open university?

LLB is not offered through correspondence. The simple reason is Bar Council of India which is made is mandatory to offer LLB course through regular mode only. On the other hand there are few Bachelor of Law courses that are offered through correspondence.

But none of them are recognized by the Bar Council of India. Which means while you may pursue these degrees, it won't make you lawyer. You won't be able to practice in the court as lawyer.

However you can work as legal adviser to a company but won't be able to represent it in the court. This is a major drawback of the correspondence law course which is why it is not recommended to anyone interested in LLB.

Your best option is to pursue LLB through regular. Although today very few colleges offer LLB, you can take admission for LLB either by appearing for entrance exam or direct admission on the basis of merit.
