Re: Procedure to study astrophysics after class 12th? After you get your Ph.D. there are several career paths. The one that people think of as "normal" involves doing two post-docs and then getting a faculty position where you work up to about seven years before you get tenure. However a lot of people will end up working in industry or working in a national lab. One mistake that people make is to imagine that astrophysicists become smart by reading books and learning facts. In fact, the undergraduate training is like teaching a chef some basic cooking techniques. Doing astrophysicists involves being creative and creating knowledge. So a lot of what you end up learning are social and cultural skills |
