I regret to say that you are not qualified as per the rules and norms of upsc exam.
it is clearly mention in order to qualify this you have to clear all the section of the paper and specifically cutoff .
so you are getting marks greater than cutoff and clearing the individual section of general ability you will be declared not qualified.

It is seen most of the exam happen to the students for this .
so its advisable that you should prepare well for the all the section effectively
so atleast clear the individual section cutoff and its also depend upon te nature of the exam.

but upsc not considered this case.

Re: Is it necessary to clear General Ability test in order to qualify NDA written exam?

Yes it is necessary to clear all the 3 papers in the NDA exam.
The NDA exam consists of
1. Mathematics paper
2. General Ability paper

Each exam will have 2.5 hours time each. After passing the exam only you can go for further process.

The eligibility for NDA is
1. You must complete 12th from a recognized board.
2. You must be in the age of 16 1/2 - 19 years.
3. Only unmarried male candidates can apply.

General ability is one of the important paper of written test which consists of Mathematics paper of 300 marks and GAT of 600 marks.

Then how can you think to qualify the NDA exam without clearing the General ability test. It is of 600 marks and containing questions from:

1. General science.

2. General English.

3. General Knowledge and Awareness.

So, work on these subjects to clear the written test. Lucent is the best book for General knowledge.

NDA is the National Defence Academy. The entrance examination for this academy is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission two times every year. The entrance exam consists of two stages:

1. Written test.

2. Service Selection Board.

The written test consists of Mathematics Paper which is of 300 marks and second paper is of general ability test is of 600 marks. General ability test consists questions from General knowledge , science and English.

Yes, it is compulsory to clear the General ability test without which you can not qualify in written test of NDA.

The cut off for written test out of 900 is generally around 300 to 350 marks minimum of 30% marks is required in each subjects.

Re: Is it necessary to clear General Ability test in order to qualify NDA written exam?

No, sorry you are not eligible to qualify in the written examination also there is no separate results for each of the paper.

NDA examination is conduced by the UPSC twice every year and the examination is conducted in the two stages before the final selection of the candidates in the service. The candidates have to qualify first in the written and then in the SSB.

The written examination contains two paper. Paper I of the Mathematics and the Paper II for the General Ability. So the candidates have to qualify in both the paper for the final selection as the result or cut off declared on the basis of both the paper.

For more information about the examination visit at the www.upsc.gov.in.
