Yes, physical eligibility do play important role while selecting the candidate for any civil service whether it's NDA, IAS, Army Officer, or IPS officer. Height and other physical standard eligibility are considered. But it is important only for that candidate who had cleared the first two stages of exams that is written exam and personal interview round. clearing these two rounds will lead you to the last stage of selection that is medical and physical fitness test.

So, according to NDA physical requirements for this examination are as follows:

Height required: 157 cm minimum.

Chest : 5 cm when expanded.

Weight : Should be proportionate to height.

Eye sight : 6/6 correct vision.

For more information you can check the official page of NDA for more details : www.nda.nic.in/

NDA is the National Defence Academy. UPSC conducts entrance exam for this academy and selection of candidates for wings of Defence. This examination is conducted twice every year.

Yes, it is compulsory and mandatory that candidate must satisfy the minimum physical criteria otherwise you will be rejected from final selection into any wing of defence. So, your height must be minimum of 157.5 cms for Army and 162.5 cms for Airforce.

Other than this for written exam, you should be 10+2 passed from a recognized board and the age limit for unmarried male candidate is 16.5-19.5 years.

NDA stands for the National Defence Academy. The entrance exam for recruitment of candidates in different wings of defence is conducted by UPSC twice every year called NDA 1 and NDA 2.

Eligibility criteria:

Minimum academic qualification is 10+2 from a recognized stream. For Navy and Airforce, science stream in 10+2 is necessary.

Age limit: 16.5-19.5 years.

Only unmarried male candidates can apply for the exam.

Yes, you must satisfy the minimum height and weight criteria for the exam otherwise even if you clear the written test and Service Selection Board, you will be rejected in physical test.

For example, in age groups 16-17, 17-18 and 18-19 years, the minimum height is 152 cms for all wings of defence and the weight is 42.5 kgs, 44kgs and 45 kgs respectively.

Re: Height requirements for NDA-1 2016

The minimum height required for NDA 2016 exam is 157 cm. It is not right to say that only height can get you selected in this exam. There is written exam and SSB interview also which you need to clear to become eligible for selection.

Therefore, height is just an eligibility criteria. It may have effect during SSB interview but you can't rely only on height to get selected.
