No , Diploma holders are not eligible for IIT only 12th pass candidate can apply for IIT
still you want to do engineering on the diploma basis so you can do LEET.

Re: Can I apply for JEE Main 2016 twice, one on the basis of 12th and another on the basis of Diploma?

There is no such provision allowed by Central Board of Secondary Education that a candidate can appear once in online mode and other in offline mode on basis of diploma and 10+2 respectively.

A candidate can only appear once for JEE exam in an academic year on basis of either diploma or 10+2. Diploma candidates are only eligible for JEE Main exam but candidates who have passed 10+2 with PCM subjects are eligible for both JEE Main and Advanced.

So, you should apply for JEE exam on basis of 10+2 as academic qualification rather than academic qualification as diploma. This will help you to appear for advanced stage if you crack main exam and finally if you clear both stage, you will be able to get admission in top respected institute of India called Indian Institute of Technology.

You can only apply for JEE Main on the basis of class 12th with PCM stream only. There are three attempts allowed for any category. You need to apply only once in a year and there is no chance of applying twice.

Hence, pass your class 12th and apply for JEE Main 2016. If you are appearing in the exam then also you are eligible for the exam.

JEE Mains stands for Joint Entrance Examination conducted by CBSE every year for admission mainly in Indian Institute of Technology(IIT) and National Institute of Technology while some of the state govt colleges also offers admission on the JEE Mains examination.
It is conducted in two parts - JEE Mains in month of April and JEE Advance in month of May.
It really seems to be a dumb idea of applying twice in same year by single student.
No student can apply twice in the same year since for each students unique identification number is issued which contains the detail of admission in database.
Also, students must think that, what will they do by applying twice as the examination is going to held on same day.

So, should focus about the examination to qualify it this time so that not to think about it further.

What I am asking is that, can I apply for JEE Mains twice in 2016, I mean one on 12th criteria as well as on Diploma?
I know this is can be done if I opt for one exam as Pen paper and other one as computer based. I know this seems kind of ridiculous, well you are welcome for criticism. But please also provide the answer.
You can appear for JEE Main Exam only on the basis of 10+2 marks.

There is no such criteria to apply for JEE Main Exam on the basis of Diploma marks.

Hence, you can apply for exam only once in the year on the basis of your 10+2 standard.

However, there are three consecutive chances available for you to appear for exam.

Exam is conducted in two modes i.e.
  • Online Mode (Computer based)
  • Offline Mode (Pen paper based)

You can prefer anyone of the above modes for appearing in the exam in which you feel comfortable.

The cutoffs of JEE Main Exam 2015 were:
  • CML - 105
  • OBC - 70
  • SC - 50
  • ST - 44

After clearing this cutoffs, you will be eligible to appear for JEE Advanced Exam.

On the basis of 12th you can apply for JEE Mains with at least 50% marks from recognised board with non medical stream.

As you have done diploma also hence you can also apply for LEET exam for direct entry in 2nd year of Engineering.

Age limit should be in between 17-25 years.

Re: Can I apply for JEE Main 2016 twice, one on the basis of 12th and another on the basis of Diploma?

JEE stands for Joint Entrance Examination. Central Board of Secondary Education conducts this exam every year. This exam has two stages JEE Main and JEE Advanced. For JEE Main, the eligibility criteria is that candidate must have completed 10+2 or its equivalent from a recognized board.

Candidate must have taken Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in 10+2 and board exam appearing candidates are also eligible for exam.

You can not apply for JEE Main exam twice in one year. The best option for you will be to apply for JEE Main exam on basis of 10+2 board qualification so that if you clear JEE Main exam, you will be eligible for Advanced exam also.

Diploma candidates are only eligible for JEE Main not for JEE Advanced. Multiple applications can lead to rejection.
