Now , you are studying in 3rd year B.E(Mechanical).It's very nice that you have planned to get admission in IITs/NITs through GATE.now you are not eligible to apply for GATE.You can apply for GATE in final year of B.E(Mechanical). Eligibility - You have passed or appearing in final year of B.E/B.Tech/B.Arch OR Equivalent course. Tech and M.E courses by way of getting admission in reputed IITs, NITs etc. # In general, the cut off of examination varies from year to year. Cut off of any examination may goes up or goes down depending upon certain factors. The main factors which decides the cut off of any examination are : * Number of students participating * Difficulty level of question paper * Number of seats advetised * Performance of candidates in the examination # Similarly, here below few factors are mentioned which decides the cut off of GATE: * Number of institutes participating * Number of students applied * Number of available seats * Number and type of courses offered * Toughness of question paper # Expected cut off for GATE for Scheduled Caste (SC) category as you have mentioned in the query that you belongs to SC category. * Mechanical Engineering: 20 * Biotechnology: 18 * Instrumentation Engineering: 17 * Chemical Engineering: 24 * Computer Science: 17 * Electronics and Communication Engineering:18 * Civil Engineering: 19 * Electrical Engineering: 20 |

Re: Expected marks required in GATE 2016 for admission in IITs and NITs? If you want to get admission in IIT or NIT through GATE 2016 score then make sure you have score above 90 percentile. It will also depend on many other factors like category and stream. For SC category candidates the required score is lesser if we look at the cut off scores of previous years. You must try to score above 400 if you want to have good chances of admission according to your category. |

Re: Expected marks required in GATE 2016 for admission in IITs and NITs? The marks required for getting admission in Indian Institute of Technology or NITs in GATE exam varies every year for candidates of different category. It is not fixed that if you will score X then you can get admission in NITs or IITs for M.Tech. Every the marks fluctuates and changes. So it would be better for you to score as much as possible in the Graduate aptitude test in Engineering which will enhance your possibility of getting admission in IITs or NITs. GATE is of 100 marks, being SC candidate, if you score around 50 marks or above, you will have good chance of getting admission in NITs or IITs for M.Tech. |
