Eligibility criteria required to become an IPS officer:-


->The applicant must have A Bachelors Degree in any discipline from a UGC/AICTE recognized University. Final year appeared/appearing candidates can also apply on provision.

Age limit:-Age must be between 21 years to 30 years.
Relaxation of 3 years for OBC candidates and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.

Physical requirement:-

Height – Male 165 cm & ST (not the SC/ OBC) – 160 cm

Female 150 cm & ST (not SC/ OBC)- 145 cm

Chest – Male Minimum 84 cm. Expansion 5 cm.

Female min 79 cm expansion 5 cm.

Eye sight – 6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye.

Here I will give you the eligibility criteria to become an IPS officer:

Candidate must be Indian.

Candidate must have degree from the recognized University.

Candidate must be physically fit.

Minimum age limit is 21 years.

Minimum height for men is 165 cm.

Minimum height for women is 150 cm.

Number of attempts for this exam for general category is 6 attempts.

Number of atoms for this exam for SC/ST category is unlimited.

IPS is the Indian Police Service which is generally conducted by the UPSC Service Selection and this UPSC conducts different Civil Services examination along with the IPS and IAS,This IPS examination is conducted by the UPSC every year once and as you have been completed your Graduation you are eligible to appear for the IPS selections

IPS Selections are conducted every year in three levels of selection criteria such as
  • Preliminary Examination
  • Mains Examination
  • Interview
These are the three rounds of selection process for the IPS selections and these are conducted year long for the selection process.There are certain eligibility criteria also available in order to appear for the IPS selections such as

Required Eligibility:
  1. Should have attained 21 years and not exceed 30 years of age limit
  2. Should have completed Graduation or bachelor degree in any discipline with at least 50% of marks from recognized board of study
  3. Should belong to the citizen of India only
These are the required eligibility criteria for IPS

If you possess these eligibility you can appear for the IPS examination through UPSC which will be conducted every year

What is the eligibility criteria required to become an IPS officer? What are the steps which we have to follow for the same? Can someone please provide me the details? I just have completed the graduation course now and I need to know the criteria for the same.
