IAS and IPS exams are conducted by the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) once in a year.

Eligibility criteria:
Graduation from any recognised university.

Age limit is 21 to 30years and there is a relaxation for OBC candidates is 3years, for SC/ST candidates is 5years.

Candidates should be a citizen of india.

I.P.S and I.A.S exam is conducted by U.P.S.C.

Age limit I.A.S and I.P.S:-
For open category:-21-30year

Maximum age limit for IAS(Indian Administrative Service) and IPS(Indian Police Service) is 30 years for general category candidate and minimum age limit is21 years.

There is 3 years upper age relaxation for OBC category candidate and 5 years upper age relaxation for SC/ST category candidate.

Any graduate Indian citizen from recognised university is eligible to apply for IAS and IPS Civil services examination. For further details you may visit official web site of UPSC which conducts the examination every year i.e. www.upsc.gov.in

Dear pal,
UPSC conducts exam for admitting aspirants into the Indian administrative service and Indian police service.
The minimum age limit for appearing in the exam is 21.
The upper age limit for appearing in the exam differ from one category to category .
For the general category aspirant the maximum age limit is 30.
For the aspirant belonging to backward caste the upper limit is 33.
For Sc/ST aspirants the upper age limit is 35.
Maximum of five year relaxation is given for ex servicemen and candidates belonging to jammu and kashmir domicile.

IAS\IPS exam is conducted by UPSC (UNION PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION). every years.

the minimum educational requirement for apply in this civil service exam , you must have graduation degree from a recognized college,.whatever may be the stream is....

AGE LIMIT-
21-30 years for the general candidates,
21-33 years for the obc candidate.
21-35 years for the SC\ST candidates.


No. of attempts-
four for the general candidates
seven for the OBC candidates ,
no limit for SC\ST candidates.

this civil service examination has three level-
1. CSAT
2. MAINS
3. INTERVIEW.

i'm twenty seven year old guy and want 2 appear in ias exam and i have done first year in b.a.in the year 2010 so in the next coming year when i'll complete my graduation i'll be approximately 29 or 30 year of age is it possible for me to appear in the exam?

yeah you are perfectly eligible

as you are healed up now you need to show the physical fitness at the time of physical evaluation

this process will be after your allocation of cadre

the physical requirements

which are needed at that time are

-> you should not have any disease at the time of evaluation

->you should not be prone to viral disease

->all types of medical tests are done on you in this evaluation

->you should be fit in all ways and also your eyesight is specially tested at this stage only

->You should take care of your leg now

and one more thing

if you have rod in your leg then you're not said to be physically fit

so take care of it ..!

relxation of 5yrs in upper agelimit is there for SC/ST category
relaxation of 3yrs in upper agelimit is there for OBC category

the new syllabus for 2011 prelims ias is given below


The new syllabus will have two common papers with equal weightage (200 marks each), unlike the current system which gives more weightage to subject paper (300 marks) than the common general awareness paper (150 marks).

CSAT Syllabus

The first paper under the new syllabus will be more or less like the current general awareness paper, with additional issues such as climate change and biodiversity. It will will test civil services aspirants on current events of national and international importance, Indian history, Indian and world geography, Indian polity and governance, economic and social development and general science, besides environmental ecology, biodiversity and climate change that do not require subject specialization.

The second paper, being introduced by replacing the optional (subject) paper, will have aptitude, data interpretation and English language comprehension skills. The second paper comprises general comprehension; inter-personal skills, including communication skills; logical reasoning and analytical ability; decision making and problem solving; general mental ability; basic numbers and their relations (secondary level) and data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables and data sufficiency). The English language comprehension skills will also be of secondary level.

Part B - Main Examination - Optional Subjects
Paper-I One of the Indian Languages to be selected by the candidate from the 22 languages included in the VIIIth Schedule to the Constitution (Qualifying Paper) 300 Marks
Paper-II English (Qualifying Paper)

Paper-III Essay [in the medium you choose] 200 Marks
Papers IV & V General Studies (300 Marks for each paper) 600 Marks
Papers VI, VII, VIII & IX Any two subjects (each having 2 papers) to be selected from the prescribed optional subjects (300 marks for each paper) 1200 Marks
Total Marks for Written Examination 2000 Marks
Interview Test [in the medium you choose] 300 Marks
Grand Total 2300 Marks

21-30 years as on 1.7.2011. (Upper age limit relaxable for SCs/STs, OBCs and certain other categories as specified in Para 3(ii) of Notice)
For SC/ST candidate the maximum age is 35 years and for PD candidate the maximum age is 40 years.

Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) exam is conducted by UPSC in every year. This is a high level competition of India.
According to eligibility criteria of IAS & IPS exam the minimum age is 21 years and maximum age for general category is 30 years, for OBC candidate the maximum age is 33 years, for SC/ST candidate the maximum age is 35 years and for PD candidate the maximum age is 40 years. For IAS or IPS, you need to appear for the Civil Service Examination.

According to the UPSC guidelines, which conducts the UPSC exam on behalf of the Central Government of India, the age limit can be noted as follows:

Minimum Age:

21 years as on 1st August of the year of examination.


Upper Age Limit:

For General: 30 Years

OBC: 33 years.

SC/ST:35 years.

The maximum age allowed for appearing in IAS exam is 30 years as on 1st aug of year he/she is going to appear in IAS exam.

the mnimum age allowed is 21 years.
