Generally the cut of in any branch is below 28 (for general) So you are much above the cut off. You may try to all IITs and top NIT. though chances are slim in top IIT but still you should try as cut off for selection keep varying from year to year. If you belong to SC/ST/OBC, then surely you have a confirmed seat in IIT. All the best |

Re: Expected GATE rank and chances in admission to IITs after marks withing 49-52? hi friends, Expected GATE rank and chances in admission to IITs after marks withing 49-52? if you get marks in between 49 to 52 in GATE examination then your rank will be very good. you will be eligible for all institution including IIT.although the score varies from year to year but from previous year trend your score will be more than 700 out of 1000. as you have 70% marks so there is no problem to take admission in IIT. but to take admission in IIT you have to appear in Interview. this interview will carry 30% marks and your GATE score will carry 70% marks to take admission in IIT. so you must be prepared for the Interview to do well in the interview. here i am attaching the previous year cut off marks for each stream for IIT kharagpur. go through the attachment to make an idea about the IIT admission. best of luck. |

Your have not mentioned your caste here, so its difficult to say this, but your rank will definitely be under 500 and for taking admission into iit the cut-off is approximately- 45 for general. 43 for OBC. 41 for SC/ST. |

Hi, Rank of GATE exam varies according to difficulty of paper.if paper is simple rank will be high and when the paper is difficult then the rank will be low. Rank of GATE exam also varies according to your branch.Branch of the candidate affects the rank of the GATE entrance exam. You get 49-52 marks and your branch is biotechnology with these priority of IIT college is high because student not give most importance to this branch.so your chance is very high. I hope your rank can be between 130-150.with this rank priority of IIT college is high. |

Every year the cutoff marks will be different,. the minimum cutoff may be 25 this year. But getting into the IITs 60-90 marks will be sufficient. If you scored 50-70 then you will might get chance into the NITs. |

As per last year score & percentile, you can easily get with this score. But still its rough estimation as this year BT paper was quite easy. Further actually knowing your percentile score , you can know by the following formula: GATE SCORE = 10[ag + sg {(m - a)/s}] where, m = marks obtained by the candidate. a = average of marks of all candidates who appeared in the paper mentioned on this scorecard in GATE 2010, with all marks less than zero, converted to zero. s = standard deviation of marks of all candidates who appeared in the paper mentioned on this scorecard in GATE 2010, with all marks less than zero, converted to zero. ag = average (global) of marks of all candidates who appeared across all papers and years 2007-2010, with all marks less than zero, converted to zero. sg = standard deviation (global) of marks of all candidates who appeared across all papers and years 2007-2010, with all marks less than zero, converted to zero. The GATE score is set to zero if the value calculated by the above formula is less than zero and the GATE score is set to 1000 if the value calculated by the above formula is more than 1000. |
