JEE Main stands for Joint Entrance Examination (Main). It is an All-India level entrance examination conducted for offering admission to undergraduate engineering and architecture programs at NITs, IIITs and other CFTIs.

To be eligible to appear in JEE Main examination, you should have passed 12th standard examinations with Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and English subjects from a Government recognised board.

There is no specific minimum age required to appear in JEE Main 2017 examination. So, if you appear your 12th standard examinations in April 2017 then, you are eligible to appear in JEE Main 2017 examination at the age of 16 years 6 months.

JEE stands for Joint Entrance Examination. This entrance examination is conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education for undergraduates courses in engineering.

This examination has two stages, first stage is called JEE Main and JEE Advanced. On basis of JEE Main score, admission to different institutes like NIT, IIIT and other government engineering colleges is given. JEE Advanced score is used for admission to IIT.

The eligibility criteria for this exam is that candidate must have done 10+2 from a recognized board. Minimum percentage of marks required is 50% and essential subjects are Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. If you are appearing for board exams in 2017 then you can apply for JEE Main exam that will be held in 2017 at an age of 16 years and 6 months.

Yes, you are eligible to appear for JEE Main Exam 2017.

The upper age limit to appear for exam is 25.

While, lower age limit is not defined by CBSE for appearing in this exam.

So, you can appear for JEE Main Exam.

But, you must be appearing in 10+2 Exam at the same moment or must have passed 10+2 with PCM stream.

Eligibility criteria for JEE 2017

Age Limit:

Candidate’s date of birth should fall on or after 01 October, 1992 for general candidates and 01, October 1987 for SC, ST and PwD candidates.

Education Qualification:

Candidates must have passed their 12th or equivalent exam in 2015 or 2016 are eligible to apply.

Candidates appearing 12th or equivalent exam are also eligible to apply.

Candidates are required to score minimum 50% marks in aggregation of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

Important Dates:

Dates are mentioned tentative as per last year:

Official notification release – November, 2016
Application form release – first week of December, 2016
Application form correction window – one week in the second half of January, 2017
Release of Admit Card – first week of March, 2017
JEE Main offline exam (Pen and Paper Based exam) – first week of April, 2017
JEE Main online exam (Computer Based exam) – second week of April, 2017
Result declaration – last week of April, 2017
Counselling schedule – first week of July, 2017

Yes you can join JEE Main 2017 exam at the age of 16 years and 6 months.

The following are the eligibilty criteria required for JEE Main exam 2017:-


->You must have passed or appearing in the class 12th with at least 5 subjects including the compulsory subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

->You must have scored an aggregate of 50% in the compulsory subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

Age limit:-

**Students must be born on or after October 1, 1992.

**Age relaxation of five years is applicable for SC, ST, PwD candidates.

If your date of birth falls before 1st October 1992, then you are not eligible for appearing in the JEE main 2017. The above eligibility criteria is applicable for General category candidates. If you belongs to reserved category, then you will get age relaxation of five years.

Yes, you can appear for Joint Entrance Examination which is conducted in two stages as Main and Advanced.

The examination is conducted for admission of candidates in IIT and other government colleges in B.Tech/B.E courses.

The eligibility to appear for the examination is that the candidates must have passed 10+2 from a recognised board with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as main paper with minimum 45%.

The age criteria to appear for examination is maximum 25 years with relaxation in age for reserved category.

So, you can appear for examination and after qualifying in examination eligible for the admission in the government colleges.

I will give my 12th class exam in April 2017 and I will be of 16 years and 6 months of my age at that time. Can I give the entrance exam of JEE Main 2017?
