You can apply for Joint Entrance Examination if you are appearing for senior secondary examination at age of 16 years. CBSE conducts Joint Entrance Examination Main and Advanced.

Other eligibility criteria for the JEE Main is that you must have done 10+2 from a recognized board with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry. Minimum of 50% marks is required to be eligible for JEE Main exam. JEE Advanced exam is for those who qualify in JEE Main exam.

For JEE Advanced exam, minimum of 75% marks is required in 10+2 and you must be among top 2 lacs of JEE Main qualified candidates.

Candidates who have passed 12th standard or an equivalent examination with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry subjects from a Government recognised board are eligible to appear in JEE Main examination.

Re: Eligibility to appear in JEE Main at the age of 16 years and 3 months?

Yes, you are eligible to appear in JEE exam. The upper age limit to appear in JEE exam is 25 years as on first of October. However if you belong to reserved category, then you will get age relaxation of five years. To appear in JEE exam, you must have studied PCM in 12th standard. After getting the JEE score card, you have to participate in the counseling process. In the counseling result, you will be allotted a seat in the engineering institute for your further engineering education. You simply have to visit that particular institute and complete the admission formalities. After doing this, you can attend your classes from the scheduled date.

Re: Eligibility to appear in JEE Main at the age of 16 years and 3 months?

Yes you can give JEE Main 2017 at this age.

#in JEE 2016 notification there was no lower age limit given for appearing in the exam, only maximum upper age limit was given. Means it will be followed for JEE 2017 also.

# There are two important changes in JEE 2017 which are-
(1) Now There will be no weightage for the 12th class marks in calculating the
rank in the JEE Main exam.

(2) For the candidates to qualify for admission in the IITs/NITs/IIITs and
such other CFTis whose admissions are based on the JEE ranks, they
should secure at least 75% marks in the 12th Class exam, or should be in
the top 20 percentile in the 12th class exam conducted by their respective
Boards.
For SC/ST students the qualifying mark would be 65% In the
12th Class exam.

Rest the pattern will be same.
All the best for your preparation

Re: Eligibility to appear in JEE Main at the age of 16 years and 3 months?

JEE stands for Joint Entrance Examination and it is a national level engineering entrance examination held for admission in undergraduate technical courses in CFTIs ( Centrally Funded Government Institutes ) like IIT, NIT, ISM, etc. and other private engineering colleges.

--> The examination is held by CBSE in two stages which includes JEE Main and JEE Advanced respectively.

--> The minimum qualification which you must have for appearing in the same examination are as here under :-

* You must have the nationality of India with your age not exceeding 25 years by the 31st December of that year in which you are appearing in the examination. There is no minimum age limit.

* You must have completed your Class 12th or must be in the final year of same with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as your main subjects with at least 60% aggregate overall in your board examination.

So being a 16 years and 3 months old you will be eligible for appearing in JEE Main if you satisfy the educational requirement too.

For further details about the same examination you can log on to the link www.jeemain.nic.in.
