Sorry to say that, you are not eligible for the IPS. Bacause they recruit only physically and medically fit persons. And you are Physically handicap. so, you are not eligible. You can try in other government sectors like SSC, Bank exams, and IB. You can make your career in that sectors. |

Re: Can I become an IPS officer if I am handicapped? I am afraid the answer is No. If you are physically handicapped then there is no way to apply for the Indian Police Service. Due to the nature of work carried out by the IPS officer which includes taking part in anti terror operations, there is no compromise with the physical criteria. What you can do is apply for the Indian Administrative Service. Physically handicapped students are allowed to appear for the IAS but not for the IPS. There is some quota of seats for the handicapped students as well. Therefore you should seriously consider Indian Administrative Service. The eligiblity criteria for IAS is same as the IPS since it is also conducted under the Civil Services Examination by the UPSC. Eligibility 1. Nationality: Indian citizens only are recruited for IAS. 2. Education: Candidate must be at least graduate. 3. Marks: There is no criteria of marks in graduation course. 4. Age (Lower): The lower age to apply is 21 years. 5. Age (Upper): 30 is the upper age limit. 6. Relaxation: 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC and ST. Selection Procedure 1. Preliminary Exam 2. Main Exam 3. Interview Attempts General: 4 attempts are given. OBC: There are 7 attempts to clear the exam. SC/ST: No limit. |
