Firstly IES corresponds to Engineering Services, while IAS corresponds to Administrative services. A good administrator may not be a good engineer, or a good engineer may not be a good administrator. Also if everyone went on to be IAS officers, who will command the Engineering division? So, select one which suits you. One which interests you and one which you know you will give your 100% to. Both are highly respectable designations and have prestige associated with them. Choose wisely. |

Are the posts available in Gujarat? hy, the ies exam is conducted to give jobs in the following services 1.railways 2.cpwd 3.military engineering services 4.central water commission 5.central electricity authority the posting is given on the basis of the requirement and it can be any where in India they wont give you the choice of selection....so you have to cope with up with their decisions. |

Now I am awaiting any letter from them. I have ranked my priorities 1) Railways 2) MES 3) Ordinance . Can anyone guide me how and when I will get to know about my posting details? |

But you cannot be certain that the post will be in Gujarat only. Also most of the jobs are transferable. So even if you get the initial posting in Gujarat at a later date you may be transferred any where in the country. |
