IPS - Indian Police Service, to become an IPS officer one has to crack Civil Service Exam conducted by UPSC every year after Graduation. The eligible candidate must be an Indian National having either appear for the final Graduation Degree exam or pass in any stream from a recognised University within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for reserved candidate with good Physical Fitness. There is a prescribed minimum Physical requirement for IPS aspirants:- HEIGHT - General Male - 165cm, and Female-150cm while SC/ST Male-160cm and Female-145cm. The IPS, Civil Service can be applied through both off line and on line mode. Through off line mode the application can be obtained through General Post offices through out the country. Through on line mode the application Form can be down loaded from the official web site of UPSC i.e. http://www.upsconline.com For more information one may log on to http://www.upsc.gov.in |

To become an IPS(Indian Police Service) officer one has to crack Civil Service Exam conducted by UPSC every year. The eligible candidate must be an Indian National having either appear for the final Graduation Degree exam or pass in any stream from a recognised University within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for reserved candidate with good Physical Fitness. Besides this the candidate should have minimum prescribed physical requirement such as:- HEIGHT - General/OBC Male-165cm and Female-150cm while SC/ST Male-160cm and Female-145cm. Chest:- Male-84cm while Female-79cm expandable to 5cm in both the cases. The selection is through two stages of written exam such as Preliminary Exam also called as CSAT(Civil Serevice Aptitude Test) and Civil Service Main Exam followed by final selection through Personal Interview. This exam conducted by the Union Public Service Commission once in a year. Eligibility: The Eligibility criteria contains the major points Nationality Education Qualification Age limit Gender No of Attempts Physical Requirements Nationality: You should have Indian citizenship. Educational Qualification: The candidate should pass the equivalent degree from any recognized university. the candidate not required the minimum percentage for this exam. Final year pursuing candidates are eligible for this exam. Age limit: You need the minimum age limit is 21 years & maximum age limit is 30 years. The upper age relaxation is applicable for the other categories. 3 years age relaxation for the OBC. 5 years age relaxation for the SC\ST. 10 years for the PH. Gender: Male & female candidates are eligible to become IPS officer. No of Attempts: 4 for General 7 for OBC No limit for the SC\ST. Physical Requirements:  You can satisfy the eligibiliity criteria then you can eligible the selection process. In this selection process you can have three stages. First stage is the Preliminary Test. You can qualify in the written test then you can go for the Main Exam. After Main Exam you can attend for the Interview. Dear Friend , The Eligibility Criteria for IPS examination are mentioned below : * You must have completed your graduation from any recognized college / university. * Your age must lie in between 21-30 years. There is also a relaxation in upper age of 3 years For OBC candidates and 5 years for SC/ST candidates. * You must have a minimum height of 165 cms if you belong to general category. There is also a relaxation of 5cms in minimum height required if you belong to SC/ST/OBC category. This is the information i have to the best of my knowledge regarding your query. IPS exam is conducted by UPSC. There are some criteria you have to follow for appearing in IPS exam. The eligibility criteria for IPS exam- 1.You must have complete your graduation in any discipline... 2.Your age should be in between 21-30years for general.. For SC/ST the age relaxation is 5years.. For OBC age relaxation is 3years.. 3.You must be a citizen of India. These are the criteria to appear in IPS exam... if you fulfill the criteria then you can appear in IPS exam.. All the best. |

Hi friend, To become an IPS officer you must crack an exam called UPSC exam.You can download the form from the following website. http://www.upsconline.nic.in You may also apply off-line in the common application form which can be purchased from the designated head post offices/post offices throughout the country against cash payment of Rs 30/- (Rs thirty) only. QUALIFICATION: The applicants of exams must be a graduate. HEIGHT: 150cm to 170cm is the required height limit for becoming an IPS. |

Besides that you need to an graduate with age between 21 to 30 years. In case if you are in final year than also you can apply. First you have to clear the prelims which consist of general knowledge and aptitude from this year and second exam is Mains for which you need to choose subject of your choice and interest. As far as the height is concerned it shoul be above 154 cm. you should be graduate to be eligible to apply for the exam. You can get the notification about the exam in the employment newspaper. |

The examination has three stages i.e., 1)Preliminary examination(normally conducted during the second half of may) 2)Main examination (normally conducted during the month of oct/nov,those who are selected in preliminary are only eligible for main examination) 3)Interview(those who are selected in main examination will be eligible for interview) ELIGIBILITY 1)A pass in a degree from any University, 2)For IAS and IPS the candidate must be a citizen of India, 3)For other services a candidate can be either a citizen of India,a subject of Nepal,a subject of Bhutan or a Tibetian refugee AGE LIMIT 1)21 years must be completed by the 1st AUGUST of that year, 2)GENERAL-30,OBC-33,SC/ST-35;EX-SERVICEMEN WILL GET 5 YEARS EXEMPTION ATTEMPTS OPEN-4,OBC-7,SC/ST-NO LIMIT all the best. |

Eligibility criteria for becoming an IPS is as follows: Education - The candidate must hold a bachelors degree in any discipline obtained from a recognized university. Candidates appearing in final year degree exam may also apply. There is no percentage requirement. Age - The candidate should be between 21 to 30 years of age. |
