If you hate maths then you shouldn't take Commerce as commerce is all about accounts and calculations. As you said that you are interested in computer then you should opt for BCA or B.Sc in computer science. These three degree courses have same duration of three years. You should choose only that stream in which you are interested. There should not be any problem of time as all degree courses takes minimum duration of three years. Thanks

Hi Rahul.. Some of the institutes are offering Commerce stream in 12th without Maths. You can check for that among your nearby schools. Once you completes your 12th in Commerce, you can go for BCom or BBA in graduation in institutes like Jamia Millia Islamia, Lovely Professional University, IP University, Christ University. These institutes are offering BCom without Maths. It will help you to find some jobs through Public Service Commission and so on. Otherwise, you may also can go for higher studies.

If you have no interest in any subject then never opt for that subject because you will not be able to excel and score well in that subject.

You can opt for commerce stream. In place of mathematics, select computer science subject as you are interested in that subject.

Study well to score higher marks.

Re: Which stream should I take having interest in computer science but hate maths?

If you are really interested in computer science then you have to study mathematics in intermediate standard because you can apply for bachelor's degree in computer science only after completion of 12th standard with non medical stream i.e. PCM.

However, if you go for commerce stream in intermediate then you can go for BCA course which have utilization of computer science. BCA stands for bachelor's of Computer applications. After completion of BCA, you will have good career opportunities.

Please make a note that we don't send any answers to personal email ids.

I would suggest you to make a note of URL where you posted your query and visit it regularly to find the updated helpful answers from forum members.

Please don't think you can complete your education faster and to get easily from Commerce stream.

The academic curriculum would be fixed for most of the academic courses.

Though you opt for CEC or MEC or MPC in 10+2, it will take 2 years to complete.

Though you join Commerce stream B.Com or Computers stream B.Sc, it would take 3 years only to complete.

Getting a good job after completion of academics depends on how well you have performed in academics and what level of skills you have acquired.

Hence I suggest you to choose the course as per your interest probably in computers.

Having interested in Computers, Maths is also required to opt for any computer science related streams in the academics.

However you can opt for Job Oriented course Web- Designing or Multimedia which does not need any Mathematics knowledge.

You can work as Freelancer on these two technologies along with your regular full time job.

Re: Which stream should I take having interest in computer science but hate maths?

Since you have mentioned that you are not interested in Mathematics at all hence the option of Science stream is not available for your choice as even in PCB group you will need to pursue Physics which requires lots of Mathematics.

Also in my view the best option for you will be the commerce stream with Computer Science after which you should go for BCA ( Bachelor of Computer Application ) degree course followed by MCA ( Master of Computer Application ) as these options are professional degree courses which will help you in making career in software world in this digitally emerging world.

Without Mathematics, you cannot pursue Computer Science branch of Engineering.

So, you have to opt for PCM stream i.e. Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics for studying Computer Science in Graduation.

If you hate Mathematics, then there is no alternate option for you.

You must note this fact that Mathematics will be in 11th, 12th and 1st year of your Graduation course.

After that, you will have to study only Computer Science related subjects.

If you are not interested in mathematics subjects then you can select commerce stream without mathematics. In place of mathematics, you can select Computer Science as you are interested in this subject.

Candidates have to select five subjects in 10+2 for board examination. In commerce stream, you can select Accountancy, Economics, Computer Science English and one subject according to your interest. After 10+2, you can go for Bachelor of Commerce or BBA, BCA etc.

Re: Which stream should I take having interest in computer science but hate maths?

Both duration of pursuing 12th with science stream or commerce and then bachelor degree in computer science or bachelor in commerce will take equal duration of time.

2 years for 12th.

3 years for B.Sc or B.Com ( B.Tech Computer Science 4 year ).

So, you must select stream as according to your interest and will be eligible to get better job opportunities after completing your course in computer science stream. But it is mandatory to pursue maths ( at least qualifying marks ) while pursuing Computer science stream.
