Re: Is IGNOU AICTE approved institute? I was took an admission in 2012 & I was failed in 2nd re-exam in b. Tech in 2015 .... So can I go for 1 year BA course in Ignou which provides the graduate degree in these back years. Also write about this 1 year full BA course to clarify. |

BY Contact with Technical Edcation Department of Tamilnadu they said it is not approved by AICTE, Hence the equvalancy is not given by them. The abbreviation of IGNOU is Indira Gandhi National Open University.  Exactly, IGNOU is All India Council for Technical Education or AICTE approved institute. This university is DEC or Distance Education Council and UGC or University Grants Commission approved institute too. Thanks. |

The acronym for IGNOU is Indira Gandhi National Open University. IGNOU is a distance learning national university. This university was established in 1985. Yes, IGNOU is approved by AICTE(All India Council for Technical Education). This university is also approved by UGC, COL, DEC, AIU, and UNESCO. |

Re: Is IGNOU AICTE approved institute? Dear Friend, The Full Form Of IGNOU is Indira Gandhi National Open University. It is an open university which offers various courses through distance mode. The Indira Gandhi National open University is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education but i want to clarify you that not all the courses offered by IGNOU are approved by AICTE. Only MBA and MAC courses offered by IGNOU are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education. This is because of the fact that the AICTE does not approve course which are offered through distance mode. However , the university is also approved by the following : * UGC [University Grants Commission] * DEC [Distance Education Council] This is the information i have to the best of my knowledge regarding your query. Just now I am worked in TATA motors ltd and I told them I am currently learning B.tech in mechanical engineering in distance in IGNOU. they are not accepted this graduation or B.tech from IGNOU. so we write the letter to IGNOU director for the same problem. please suggest or give some input to accept B.tech in TATA motors. IGNOU has the following affiliations – UGC AICTE DEC COL UNESCO But only two programmes of IGNOU are AICTE recognised. These programmes are- MBA MCA Rest of the courses are not approved by AICTE.. |

Normally what happens is that the courses are AICTE approved for any university. It may so happen that one certain course of an institute is AICTE approved and another is not. But in IGNOU almost all courses, especially the MBA and MCA part and all graduation level courses are AICTE approved. The institute is also UGC and DEC approved. So do not worry. Just pick up a course and go for it. |

Normally what happens is that the courses are AICTE approved for any university. It may so happen that one certain course of an institute is AICTE approved and another is not. But in IGNOU almost all courses, especially the MBA and MCA part and all graduation level courses are AICTE approved. The institute is also UGC and DEC approved. So do not worry. Just pick up a course and go for it. |
