Selection Process followed to become a teacher in Primary Schools:

Selection into Primary Schools as a teacher is done through "TET (Teacher Eligibility Test)". Yes, the selection process is a straight forward process and this test consists of two papers.

>> Paper 1 (for Classes 1 to 5)

>> Paper 2 (for Classes 6 to 8)

As you are willing to teach in Primary Schools, you are required to appear in Paper 1 of TET Test.

After qualifying the test, you will be given a certificate and you may directly appointed into the Primary school with this criteria.

First thing I would like to let you know that primary school refers to the Class group from Class 1 to Class 8.

Now as far as you are concerned about becoming teacher in primary school then for that I would like to let you know that for becoming teacher upto Class 5 the minimum educational qualification required is a higher secondary school degree in any discipline from a recognized board of education along with diploma in elementary education (D.El.Ed.) degree where as for becoming teacher for Class VI to Class VIII or higher you need to be a graduate along with Bachelor of Education ( B.Ed. ) degree holder.

So being a student of B.Com second year in order to be a teacher the best option for you is to first complete your graduation with at least 50% marks and then pursue B.Ed degree course.

Further after acquiring above mentioned educational qualification you need to qualify Teacher Eligibility Test ( CTET for CBSE affiliated schools where as State TET for schools managed by concerned state government ) for your recruitment as teacher.

To become a primary government school teacher you have to appear and qualify in CTET/TET examination.

The examination is conducted by CBSE and state education board. The common eligibility to appear in examination is that candidate must have passed bachelor degree in any discipline from a recognised university with B.Ed qualification.

So, you must have to pursue B.Ed course or Diploma in Education course to appear in examination.

There is no age limit to appear in CTET examination.

CBSE conducts CTET examination twice in a year. For detail information about examination visit at www.ctet.nic.in.
