If you want to take advantage of this reservation then it is important that you need to produce the reservation certificates. In ISRO there is relaxation for some castes in education and in age criteria. Age limit: 40 years SC/ST candidates 38 years for OBC candidates Indian Caste Wise Reservation System: Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Caste persons who have adopted Buddhism (SC): 13% Scheduled Tribe (ST): 7% De- notified Tribes (14 similar tribes) (VJ/DT) A: 3% Nomadic Tribes (28 tribes before January 1990 and similar tribes) (NT-1) B: 2.5% Nomadic Tribes (Dhanagar and Similar Tribes) (NT- 2) C: 3.5% Nomadic Tribes (Vanjari and Similar Tribes) (NT-3) D: 2% Other Backward Class (OBC): 19% |

But the relaxation may always depend on the type of post for which you have applied for. There may be reservations for some post. Even if you come under the reservation categoryl, it is important that you need to produce the certificates for reservations accordingly. |

Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has made India proud by setting world record of maximum satellight launches and of course the Chandrayan space ship by India which has put us in a elite group of nations to send unmanned space mission in the orbit of the moon. Getting a job in ISRO is extremely difficult. More than 150,000 people apply for job in ISRO for scientist however only 200-300 are selected every year. Therefore you can imagine how tough is the competition in ISRO. Now coming to your point of quota in jobs for Schedule Caste, Schedule Tribe and Other Backward Classes in IRSO. You have heard it right, there is no reservation. The government of India has exempted ISRO from any reservation for Schedule Caste, Schedule Tribe and Other Backward Class for the posts of scientists. You may find reservation in other posts in ISRO but for the top job of scientist, there is no reservation. There have been protest demanding reservation in scientists job but government has refused to entertain any such plea. Not just ISRO but other Defence research organization like DRDO are also exempted from reservation for backward castes. However there is some relaxation for reserved categories for applying in ISRO. For example there is relaxation on minimum percentage as well the upper age limit. But that's as far as ISRO goes to accomodate backward castes. For a job in ISRO you will have to appear in written test exam. The dates and other details of exams are revealed by the ISRO around the months of February and March. The entire admission process along with dates of exam is mentioned in the job ad which is published on leading newspapers in India. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR THE ISRO:- ~~ Only Indian Citizens can apply for job in ISRO. ~~ For a job in ISRO you should either have a diploma in Engineering or B.Tech degree from a recognised university in India. ~~ You need to secure at least 65 percent marks in the B.Tech graduation course. ~~ There is some relaxation for SC/ST/OBC candidate in percentage but that is mentioned in the job ad itself. ~~ A valid GATE score is important for job in ISRO. It can improve your chances of job. ~~ The age limit for job is between 21 to 35 years. ~~ There is 3 year relaxation for OBC category and 5 years relaxation for SC/ST category. ~~ Final year candidates of B.Tech course may also apply on if they can produce the degree at the time of interview. Selection Process:- ~~ Entrance exam ~~ Interview |
