Your rank is good enough to give you an option to choose the course you desire to pursue at Manipal University with the branch(location) of your choice. I asked my friends who study in Manipal University and they told me that those candidates who obtain a rank of under 5000 are likely to get Mechanical stream with ease(without wait list). Your rank i much better than the borderline 5000 so you need not worry about the rest. Go for the counselling with a free mind. Good luck

But your rank fits in the range for getting IT and thus you can expect to be offered the same during counselling. Since you are on the borderline for IT, i will suggest you to think of a back up branch which you can get within your rank (example civil, I&P,I&C, printing technology, Biotechnology) incase you do not get IT. However, the actual availability will depend upon what the students with higher ranks than you opt for and how many people turn up. This is just a rough estimate because Manipal university does not disclose any official cut off for various branches officially. I wish you good luck for the counselling!
