I am a final year BSc Nursing student The eligibility criteria for studying MBBS is Candidate must pass 12 standard with physics ,chemistry and biology with at least 50% Candidate must appear for the national level entrance exam Candidates can only give this exam 3 times There is a upper age limit of 25 years for the general category and there is a relaxation of more 5 years for he reserved category If you fulfil all the above criteria you will be eligible Thee are many institutions some are government and some are private offeringthe course AIIMS Dy patil institute Saint GSM medical college There are many more |

Re: Can I do MBBS after my BSc Nursing? I am a final year BSc Nursing student In my opinion you should instead do M.Sc Nursing or perhaps apply for the job in government hospitals or private hospitals. There are some PSUs who also hire nurses and there is scope of promotion in the future as well. |

I am a final year BSc Nursing student Hi, If you are interested to do MBBS Course from India after completing your B.SC in Nursing then it will be possible for you to do this course.For taking admission in this course you will have to apply for Common Medical Entrance Exam but you will only able to apply for this exam,if you will able to meet the eligibility criteria for this exam.Through this exam you will able to take admission in MBBS and BDS Course. Academic qualification :- Your subject combination in 10+2 should be Science with Physics,Chemistry,English and Biology. You should be passed out in all these subjects individually. Your Inter degree should be from recognized board/university. Age Requirement : Minimum age should be 17 years. Maximum age allowed is 25 years. Marks requirement :- For General and OBC Category - 50% in 10+2. For SC and ST Category - 40% in 10+2. Thanks!!!! all the best............. |

I am a final year BSc Nursing student While it is possible to do MBBS course after B.Sc Nursing but unfortunately there is no point doing it and therefore I will strongly recommend against the course. It certainly makes no sense of doing both Nursing and MBBS course. If you applied for MBBS course after completing nursing then your B.Sc. degree will be completely irrelevant. You can either apply for job as Nurse or doctor. It means the four years of hard work will go down the drain. Besides having completed B.Sc Nursing course will not give you any competitive edge over others while applying for the MBBS course. The course is different for Nursing and MBBS. Similarly the admission procedure will remain same for you. The duration of the course will also remain the same for you. There is no benefit that you can get for having completed B.Sc Nursing course. I hope you are not thinking about getting any lateral entry admission for MBBS course. Let me tell you that it is not possible. Such lateral entry is not offered by MBBS colleges in India and even they do, such degree will not be accepted by the Medical Council of India. MCI has made it quite clear. In my opinion you should instead do M.Sc Nursing or perhaps apply for the job in government hospitals or private hospitals. There are some PSUs who also hire nurses and there is scope of promotion in the future as well. But if you still insist on doing MBBS then you will have to appear for the NEET entrance exam. Its a new entrance exam which has been introduced this year. The exam will be conducte don May 5, 2013. Depending on how well you perform in the NEET entrance exam you can apply for the admission. Eligibility Criteria 1. Candidate must have passed 12th standard with PCB. 2. You should secure minimum of 50 percent marks. 3. The minimum age to appear is 17 years. 4. Maximum age is 25 to appear for NEET. 5. There is 5 years relaxation in upper age for SC and ST. |
