Re: How To become an I.A.S. officer after 12th?

To become an IAS officer, you would require a degree from recognized university or board. Also, keep an eye on the current affairs of everyday. Attempt quizzes on online websites and also keep your preparations according to the syllabus provided on the UPSC website https://www.upsc.gov.in

The exam is composed of 3 parts including preliminary, mains and interview. So you need to invest around one full year if you are planing to crack the exam.

You can also find the syllabus for the examination in following link:

It is heartening to see you have decided your aim in 12th class. I think it is perfect time for you start preparation.
The procedure to be an I.A.S officer goes through one of the most difficult exams in India.

In order to become IAS, you will have to appear in CSE exam conducted by UPSC. Let me come to the point on how you can start.

1-Get 90+ marks in 12th class so you could get admission in top colleges of Delhi University.

2-. Choose your graduation stream. It would be more helpful for you if you do BA from political science.

3-Start reading newspapers like The Hindu, Times of India etc .

4- Do not wait for perfect time start prepration from now. Either join any coaching centre or if you want to join coaching after graduation then start preparation by your own along with graduation.

5-Read NCERT of political science, history, geography, economic, from class 6 to 12 .

6-Most important improve your General knowledge and current affairs.

Re: How To become an I.A.S. officer after 12th?

You are not eligible to apply for the position of IAS Officer soon after the completion of 12th class.

The minimum academic qualification that is required for the candidates to apply for this position is by completion of Graduation.

Candidates who have completed Graduation with any of the stream are eligible to apply for this Exam.

Candidates who are pursuing final year of Graduation can also apply for this Exam but they should be able to show the proof of passing in Graduation when they appear for Interview.

The selection procedure would involve
CSAT Exam
Main Exam
Interview

You did not mention the stream that you have completed in your 10+2.

I suggest you to opt for the stream in Graduation in accordance with the stream that you have gone through in your 10+2.

Make sure that at least one subject of your stream in Graduation should be there in the list of optional subjects for Main Exam.

Have good preparation for that subject and gain in depth subject knowledge in that subject.

As there is huge competition for this exam, you should secure good score in the written exam to be placed in IAS.

Have good preparation for the selection procedure and crack it.

Wish you all the best.

Dear Friend,
In order to be an IAS officer you have to appear for CS(Civil Services) Exam. For this you should be a graduate. And I will suggest you to go for BA(Bachelor of Arts) degree course as the subjects of CS exam comes in the syllabus of your BA degree course.
