Yes, you can get direct admission in 2nd year of B.Tech via lateral entry. You have to appear in the LEET exam which the university conducts for admission.

Re: Can I do B.Tech Mechanical Engineering after B.Sc in Physics?

=> As per my knowledge, you are eligible to do B.Tech Mechanical Engineering after B.Sc in Physics.

=> In order to get direct second-year admission of B.Tech course after completing B.Sc course, you have to appear in the Lateral Entry Engineering Test.

=> The lateral entry is only given to candidates who have either completed diploma in Engineering or B.Sc course.

=> As per my suggestion, you should go for the MBA or M.Sc course after completing B>Sc course rather than B.Tech course.

Re: Can I do B.Tech Mechanical Engineering after B.Sc in Physics?

As you have completed the bachelor degree in Physics, you must have the required qualification to pursue B.Tech course.

But, you are not eligible to get admission in the course through lateral entry.

If you want to get admission in the course you will have to take admission in the 1st year of the four year course.

Re: Can I do B.Tech Mechanical Engineering after B.Sc in Physics?

The minimum education required to pursue B.Tech degree in Mechanical engineering is a Class 12th with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as main subjects from a recognised board of education.

So, having completed your B.Sc in Physics degree course for which the minimum education required is as that for B.Tech degree course, you are eligible to pursue B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering degree course from any recognised technical institute.

Also, I would like to let you know that there is no provision of lateral entry to second year of B.Tech degree course for B.Sc in Physics degree holder and hence to pursue B.Tech in Mechanical engineering degree course, you are required to start from the first year.

Re: Can I do B.Tech Mechanical Engineering after B.Sc in Physics?

It is not possible to get admission in B.Tech through lateral entry after B.Sc in Physics.

Entrance examination is conducted for admission in B.Tech course. Lateral entry in B.Tech course is only for Diploma passed candidate.

So, if you want to get admission in the course, you have to take admission in 1st year of the course.

Re: Can I do B.Tech Mechanical Engineering after B.Sc in Physics?

You are eligible to get admission in B.Tech course, if you have passed 12th in PCM.

But, there is no lateral entry in B.Tech course after bachelor in science in Physics. So, you have to begin the course from the beginning i.e - 1st year.

Entrance examination is conducted for admission in various government and private colleges.

You are complete BSc in Physics.
You take admission in diploma, so you take admission in 10th or 12th reference.
And you get admission in degree but you are 12th science cleared, so you will get admission in degree.
But you can use BSc reference in get admission in degree, you are not eligible.

Re: Can I do B.Tech Mechanical Engineering after B.Sc in Physics?

B.Tech is Bachelor in Technology. It is four year course. The eligibility to appear for the examination is that candidate must have passed 12th in PCM as main paper.

So, candidates with above qualification are eligible to appear for the examination to get admission in B.Tech.

There is no lateral entry in B.Tech course after B.Sc degree.

Re: Can I do B.Tech Mechanical Engineering after B.Sc in Physics?

You can pursue Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering course after Bachelor of Science in Physics.

B.Sc and Diploma candidates are eligible for Lateral Entry scheme of B.Tech. You must have minimum of 60% marks in B.Sc in Physics to apply for LEET exam.

Re: Can I do B.Tech Mechanical Engineering after B.Sc in Physics?

Bachelor of Science stream candidates can get admission in second year of Bachelor of Technology course through Lateral Entry Entrance Test. LEET is conducted by state technical authority.

The minimum academic qualification required to apply for LEET exam is diploma or B.Sc from a recognized institute with minimum of 60% marks. If you have required percentage of marks, you can apply for state LEET exam.

Can I do B.Tech Mechanical Engineering after B.Sc in Physics?

I have completed my B.Sc in Physics. Now, is it possible to study B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering? Will be considered for lateral entry? Can I get admission in 2nd year of B.Tech directly?
