Re: What are best of five subjects in ICSE? 1. Is best of 5 subjects valid in 10th ICSE board? 2 What if the child is not able to score passing marks in one subject mainly in maths and has scored decent marks in other subjects. Will the child pass out or has to reappear for maths. 3.Does the ward have more preference bcos he/she has cleared from ICSE board then State or CBSE while taking admission in 11th? Need guidance on the above queries. |

Re: What are best of five subjects in ICSE? The best 5 subjects taken are chosen as 5 out of 6 subjects in the following way : 1. (Physics + Chemistry + Biology) ÷ 3 = PCB 2. Mathematics 3. Hindi 4. Computer Applications 5. (History and Civics + Geography) ÷ 2 = HCG 6. (English 1 + English 2) ÷ 2 = English (Compulsory) Since, English is the compulsory subject, 4 subjects are chosen out of remaining 5 subjects. // And for Science and S.St, their average marks is taken for calculation. // Further, for Commerce, the group 3 and group 2 subjects are considered. And finally the percentage is calculated = (Total Marks attained/ Max. Marks) × 100. |

The best five option fro ICSE students would be worked out from only the first two groups of subjects- four subjects from GROUP I and two subjects from GROUP II. Group I: students compulsorily take english, second langauge, history geography civics & environmental education. Group II: student must choose two subjects from maths, science, commercial studies, agricultural studies. |

Re: What are best of five subjects in ICSE? Yes, they consider English and best four subjects. Depending on the stream and school you choose that will vary the subjects priority because in some schools for PCMB the subjects they consider are English, science, maths & for PCMC they consider English, science, maths, computers & for arts they consider English, HCG, Hindi. So the subjects priority varies based on the stream and school but English is considered as the one of the main subject. |
