Re: Am I eligible to apply for food inspector after studying MSc in Biochemistry? Respected sir/ Madam, I have completed my m.sc degree in Biochemistry, but during my b.sc degree my subject was zoology honours with chemistry, my question is am I eligible for central food safety officer exam or state food safety officer exam because in notification they mention for b.sc degree in Biochemistry. If anyone can resolve this doubt will be very obliged. Thanks in advance. |

Food Inspector : The role of the Food Inspector is to monitor the food distributors, processors and manufacturers. The recruitment for the Food Inspector post is usually conducted by UPSC. Any Graduate in the field of Science and Chemistry are eligible to apply for the Food Inspector entrance examination. Make a note of the official website of Food Inspector in India fica.webs.com. Required Educational Qualification to become Food Inspector: 1. Degree in food Technology or Dairy Technology or Bio-Technology or Oil Technology or Agriculture Science or Veterinary Science or Bio-Chemistry or Micro-Biology From recongnized University 2. Or post graduate in chemistry Or Degree in Medicine. 3. Or Any other equivalent eligibility notified by Central Government. 4. Or those who have successfully completed their training under any Organization or Institution as specified by the Food authority. Since you have a masters degree in BioChemistry you are eligible to become the Food Inspector. Age limit: Candidates minimum age should be 21 years and not more then 30 years. Age relaxation: 3 years for OBC Candidates. 5 years for SC/ST candidates. Application Procedure : This exam is conducted Nation wide, so you can find the application forms in any of the nearest Post Offices. The applications will be available only for a certain period as of notifications dates. Once you finish the filling of Application Form you have to send it to the official address of UPSC. Selection Process : First you need to clear the written test, this is conducted to screen out the merit and interested candidates from huge applications. And the last is an Interview.
