Re: Which group should I take in 11th standard to become a Pilot?

Coming directly to the point, the basic eligibility criteria for the commercial pilot (since for the Government Airlines you have to give separate exams) is-

1. Intermediate with Physics, chemistry and maths.

2. From a recognized board or university.

3. Age- 17 years minimum.

So, you can see, for the pilot you need to take the science stream with Physics and Maths compulsory.

The pilot training Course Duration is around 15-18 months and there are various training institutes which select the candidates on the basis of the aptitude tests which they conduct.

Also some medical standards are maintained which are not so stringent as that of army but the candidates must ensure that they should be physically fit and not have any skin diseases.

# First of all, I would like to explain the ways to become pilot in Air Force which are:

* National Defence Academy (NDA) Examination
* Open Recruitment Drives conducted by Air Force
* Apply to Flying Branch in Air Force Academy (AFA) through CDS Examination

# Now NDA Examination is only examination which neither required any specialised stream nor any fixed percentage marks.

# Excluding NDA Examination, rest two examinations mentioned above requires educational qualification in science stream.

# For Open Recruitment Drives conducted by Air Force, the candidate must be 10+2 in subjects Physics and Mathematics with minimum 70% marks in aggregate.

# For Flying Branch of Air Force by joining Air Force Academy (AFA) through CDS Examination, candidate must either any engineering graduate or B.Sc in Physics & Mathematics.

# You it is your discretion what subjects or stream to choose or not keeping all merits and demerits in mind. You should take decision after deep consideration of above mentioned averments and points.
