HI HELLO IN THIS WAY U CAN To become an IPS(Indian Police Service) officer one has to apply, appear and crack Civil Service Exam conducted by UPSC once every year. To be eligible to apply for IPS Civil Service Exam, the candidate must be an Indian National having either appear for the final Graduation Degree exam or pass in any stream from a recognised University within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for reserved candidate with good Physical Fitness. Apart from this the aspiring IPS candidate should meet the minimum prescribed physical requirement such as:- HEIGHT:- For General Male-165cm and Female-150cm while SC/ST Male-160cm and Female-145cm. CHEST:- For Male-85cm while Female-79cm expandable to5cm in both the cases. So as you are interested you can apply for Civil Service Exam in the final year B.Com. Degree. History Much before the Independence, superior police officers belonging to the Imperial Police (IP) were appointed by the Secretary of State on the basis of competitive examination. The very first open civil service examination for the service was held in England in June, 1893 and the top ten candidates were appointed as probationers of the Indian (Imperial) Police. However, it is not possible to pinpoint a date on which it could positively be claimed that the Indian Police came into being. In around 1907, the Secretary of State’s officers were directed to wear the letters "IP" on their epaulettes to distinguish them from the other officers not recruited by the Secretary of State. In this sense, 1907 could be regarded as the starting point for the Indian Police.[1] [edit]Reforms ordered by the Supreme Court (1996-2006) Prakash Singh, one of the former Directors General of Police of the states of Assam and subsequently Uttar Pradesh and finally Director General of the Border Security Force, initiated a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the Supreme Court of India, asking the court to investigate measures to reform the police forces across India to ensure the proper rule of law and improve security across India.[6] Several measures were identified as necessary to professionalize the police in India: A mid or high ranking police officer must not be transferred more frequently than every two years. The state government cannot ask the police force to hire someone, nor can they choose the Chief Commissioner. There must be separate departments and staff for investigation and patrolling. Three new authorities will be created in each state, to prevent political interference in the police and also to make the police accountable for their heavy-handedness,[7] which will include the creation of: A State Security Commission for policies and direction A Police Establishment Board, which will decide the selection, promotions and transfers of police officers and other staff A Police Complaints Authority, to inquire into allegations of police misconduct. In 2006, due to a lack of action by all the state governments in India, the Supreme Court of India ordered the state governments to report to it why the reform measures outlined were not implemented.[8] After being questioned in front of the judges of the Supreme Court of India, the state governments are finally starting to reform the police forces and give them the operational independence they need for fearless and proper law enforcement.Tamil Nadu Police has been in the forefront of application of the new referendum.[9] [edit]Cadre strength The authorized cadre strength of Indian Police Service is 4720. (3270 Direct Recruitment Posts and 1450 Promotional Posts).[10] [edit]Examination and Training National Police Memorial New Delhi To serve in the IPS one has to be elevated from the state cadre or get a decent rank in the rigorous Civil Services Examination conducted by Union Public Service Commission every year.[11] Due to shortage of police officers in India, the Ministry of Home Affairs proposed the formation of Indian Police Service Limited Competitive Examination to be conducted by UPSC.[12] Civil Services Examination has a three stage competitive selection process. At stage one, there is an objective type examination called the preliminary exam. This is a qualifying examination. It consists of General Studies and aptitude test. Only the candidates who clear this, can appear for the next stage called the Main examination which consists of nine papers. Each candidate has to select two optional subjects, apart from which all candidates have to take a General Studies, Essay and compulsory language paper and English paper. This is followed by an interview. After selection for the IPS, candidates are allocated their Cadres. There is one cadre in each Indian state, except for three joint cadres: Assam-Meghalaya, Manipur-Tripura, and Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram-Union Territories (AGMUT). As per Indian Constitution 2/3 of the strength of every cadre is filled by direct IPS officers and rest 1/3 is elevated from respective state cadre officers. Each state and union territory of India has a state police force, headed by the Commissioner of Police (State) or Director General of Police (DGP). It is controlled by the Chief Minister and Home Minister of the state/union territory. The state police is responsible for maintaining law and order in townships of the state and the rural areas. States such as Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra have taken steps to get their police force trained by advanced police training schools notably the Atlanta City Police of the USA. The Tamil Nadu state police is at the forefront of advancement with the Tamil Nadu Police Academy, which now seeks university status. The advanced training that the Tamil Nadu Police undergo vary from fraud investigation to advanced patrol training. This training when completed will make the Tamil Nadu Police one of the most advanced police forces in India. City Police Services on the other hand are known for their one lesson fits all attitude. The Indian Police Forces have been trying to secure better training and capabilities for their personnel, but with indifferent success due to their own encumbered structure. Re: Information about Indian Police Service? IPS 2013 Eligibility Criteria IPS ELIGIBILITY Age Limit-21 years of age as on 1st august of the year. The maximum age limit to apply for IPS is 30 (for general category), 33 (for OBCs) and 35 (for SCs/STs). The number attempts for this exam is 4 times for general category, 7 attempts for OBCs and no limited number of attempts for SCs/STs. The preliminary exam is also considered as one attempt. The candidates who are appointed in IAS and IFS cannot apply for this exam. The candidate must undergo rigorous training for physical standards which includes horse riding, rock climbing PT obstacles, rope climbing etc. The candidate who are applying for IPS should posses the physical fitness as per the rules given. All India Combined Competitive Examination for the Civil Services conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) comprises of two successive stages: Preliminary Examination: It is of objective type, which is a qualifying examination. All that you have to do after 12th is join a graduate course (in any discipline) of your liking in a reputed college. Learn the subjects carefully and pass out with flying colour. If time permits, do some additional courses in parallel with the degree course, so that you will be in a better position to tackle the competitive exam. The powers and responsibilities vary depending upon the position of the officer in the hierarchy. It means that the DGP has a much larger power than the DSP. |

In order to appear for this exam, you should be a graduate. The discipline in which you got graduation (Arts, Science, Commerce, Technology, etc) does not matter. So, you can try your luck after completing the BA course. If you are appearing in the final year, then also you can apply for Civil Services Exam. There are about 25 optional subjects, out of which you have to select two subjects. The syllabus for all the subjects is available in the advt in Employment News (dated 11-17 Feb, 2012) and also in the UPSC website. Past question papers for the last three years is also available in the UPSC website. All the best. |

Re: Information about Indian Police Service? dear friend you must follow the following criteria Graduation from a recognised university or a college in India is the minimum eligibility criteria for IPS. He/She should be 21years to 30 yrs of age at the time of appearing in the UPSC held Civil Services Examination. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the Civil Services Exam every year. The Civil Services Exam holds the key for entry into a number of prestigious jobs in the country including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS). IAS, IFS, and IPS are the top three services of Group A, Central Services. The other Group A services include Indian Customs and Central Excise Service, Indian Revenue Service, and Indian Postal Service. Civil Services Exam consists of preliminary exam (prelims), main exam (mains), and interview. The prelims are usually held in May /June. Mains are held in October/November. The exam is notified in December. Application forms can be obtained from designated post offices around the country and the exams are held in major cities. All The Best! |

Re: Information about Indian Police Service? hello deae see, you can join in the Indian Police Service after your graduation. to join in the Indian Police Service, you have to give the UPSC-IAS exam. through IAS exam you can join in the Indian Police Service. the criteria to attain in the UPSC-IAS exam is minimum graduation in qualification with 55% marks. age limit 21-29 years. all the best............. |

The minimum qualifications required for the are given below:-It require graduation only. >The age limitation for IPS is 21-30 years for general, and 21-33 for obc students and for sc i think it will be 45 years. > If you are belongs from general then, there is 4 for the general , 7 for the OBC , unlimited for the SC/ST.
